Should the metal (silver) rod of the drivers side strut rotate if twisted by hand?
I had trouble getting the top nut off of the strut off and am now having just as much trouble getting one back on.
The rod spins round with the nut as it trys to tighten, so it never works itself further along the thread.
Please see below if the above doesn't make sense...
I've recently fitted some lowering springs to my GTV- well, I suppose you can say I'm still fitting them (I started on Sunday)
The two rears wen't on a dream and so did the front passanger side BUT... the front drivers side has been a COMPLETE *&^"$% etc, etc.
The nut at the top of the strut just would not budge so I ended up having to get the hammer and chizel on it to fracture it... Which it finally did and came off. However I think in all of my efforts to get the nut off to start with I've done some damage as the strut rod now twists around with minimal effort.
Does that make any sense to anyone?
PLEASE HELP!! I dont want to buy a strut if it wont sort the prob.
