Using auto box oil in UR manual...Tried it?
All, Anyone replaced their manual gear box oil with some auto box oil and run the car for many miles?
I've read about doing this many years ago and in fact did do it to resolve the same type of problem I'm getting now with my 24V. When cold is is becoming very reluctant to select 1st, 2nd and reverse from stand still, even with the clutch depressed for a few seconds. Once warmed up all is fine and no problems.
The oil has been replaced with the recommended grade and the level checked. It started during the cold weather but is still persisting to be a pain now it's warmer.
My previous similar problem was resolved by replacing the oil with auto box oil, being more "fluid like" at low temperatures it appeared to allow the box internals to move a lot easier.
Now I'm older and more wary I'm thinking twice about trying this again, as the thought of stuffing something up would be worse than a sticky box....well at the moment anyway!
Mines a shoggy....whats YOURS?
My dog says my ALFAs "RUFF".. what does he know , he's a dog!
