Alfa GTV 2 Litre

Can anyone advise me. I have recently bought a w reg GTV and when ordering parts have been advised at the counter that it is an import. The log book stated it was registered new in the uk in may 2000. Are there any tell tale signs determining if it is i.e. the rocker cover and sump nut both take star drivers to remove. Is this a giveaway.

Two more things I would like to ask:
1. The drivers door opens too far and the front of the door ( where the hinges are ) ends up pressing against the edge of the wing and bonnet. Is this just a case of replacing a catch to stop it swinging out too far? If so where can I get one from.

2. When Idling the rev counter is unsteady as if someone is continuously pressing the throttle lightly on and off.

Any info on any of the above would be greatly appreciated

As far as I know it should say if it's an import on the V5.

I don't know about the door.

If there's any issues with idling I would always check the MAF as my first port of call. Disconnect it (there's guides on here) and see how it behaves. If the problem is cured then your MAF will need cleaning or replacing.

Re: Alfa GTV 2 Litre

V5 only says its an import if it was first registered abroad. if it was imported prior to first registration then it wont show on the V5. i had this problem with my GF's punto.

1. check strap needs to be replaced

2. very common problem on the twinsparks (and most fiat twinnys). clean throttle body and idle actuator and throttle position sensor with contact cleaner.

Re: Alfa GTV 2 Litre

I had the same problem, the car was supplied by a dealer in holland who was getting these cars into the UK 2k cheaper, its basically a UK spec car just imported across, but i still had the standard UK warranty 3 years and had to get an English Service book etc as mine was all in German etc.

About your revs going up and down, as usual it could be split air intake pipes or the idle actuator, have a search on this section there have been many articles about it.
