Hi Folks ...!
Thank you very much for your support - this is a great forum !
I have racked up a fair old phonebill yesterday speaking to the dealer (at varying levels within the company), ARUK, and a handful of other interested parties. Made notes on the time, name, what was said during each call etc.
Driving home from work that day (in a ****roen C3 hire car that I arranged myself) I felt that I wasnt happy with the (sometimes vastly contradictory even from colleugues in the same dealership) answers I had been getting and so made a slight detour and drove over to the dealership to have a meeting with the dealership MD.
I explained my case and he was very respectful and understanding - unusual response considering the way the salespeople would talk down to me (I am 22.....).
I am not happy yet with the situation as I am still alfa-less - but happy with the assurances given by the MD - I have been promised that by Tuesday evening the car will be delivered back to me with parts replaced (including clutch, a non warranty part that was damaged as a result of the recovery bloke driving the Brera from stationary in 5th, half clutched up the ramp....) - and he understood my justified request for recompensation.
I feel I can trust his assurances as he is ultimately responsible for the activites of the company and I have brought myself around to consider this situation as the perfect opportunity to see some excellent customer service - now I am just waiting for the talk to be walked !
Thank you for the legal and tactical (?) advice given
oh and the skinny ginger haired guy on this occasion was a salesman !
Let's wait and see what happens next - hopefully it's enough to put that newcar smile back on my face
I will post full details of the name, location etc of the company and people involved as soon as action has been taken and the situation is resolved (one way of another) but it's not fair to name yet, let's give them a chance to make things right first.
Paul (currently stuck with the damn french motor !
