Rear Screen Replacement Problem

Having an issue havent seen posted before but my search skills might not be up to much.

As my rear plastic screen was ripped bought a replacement section from ebay. Managed to get the screws out of the old one etc etc but have gone to fit the new one and the zip is totally the wrong size, the top part of the hood am zipping on the separable pin is twice as thick as the body on the zip. Has anyone else had this and whats the way around it?

After a bit more searching found some other threads where people had the issue that it wont mesh, the solution that seems to be being talked about is I would have to get the new top part sewn in.

Nothing ever straightforward with these cars.

I haven't tried it but could the zips be taken off both and the old zip sewn into the replacement screen?

You need to take the old screen out then send it to someone who will sew a new one into the existing canvas i.e. you keep the same zip etc. There are plenty of places that advertise online. I used a local firm called Trimtech

Rear Screen

Hi

When I replaced mine I got it from this supplier, Alfa Romeo Hoods | Cabriolet Hoods and the only issue with the zip was the plastic tunge was slightly too long so had to trip it, by about 2mm.

this is a guide on how to change the rear screen with the zip section replacement.

Fitting a hood window complete into a 916 series spider

could you take a few pic of your both zip sections, so we can see what the issue is?

I got mine from them too having found them via Solaris ^^^. As stated just a quick dremel job (3 seconds) on the zip tag and fitting was quite straightforward.
