Unknown Electronic Box in 1999 GTV V6 Boot

Good morning everyone.

I recently purchased a Silver 1999 GTV V6 and loving it so far.

Today I found a mystery box hidden behind the charcoal canister mounting bracket.
It does not look standard,
It has an inline fuse going to the box,
I have never seen one for sale or mentioned during my research before buying a GTV
Sticker on top that reads 'Tested 2699'

I only decided to ask because of the sticker that reads 'Tested 2699' I guess that means tested in week 26 (last week of June) in 1999. Making it possibly an original part or added by a dealer. I do not believe it is an aftermarket alarm, the car has an original factory alarm that so far works great.

Here is a picture of the unit. Eventually I will start testing the wires and open it up to figure out what it is but at the moment I am working 12 hour shifts, I have to prioritise other jobs like adjusting the windows.

Previously I have owned two Fiat Bravo's a 1997 1.4 and a 1996 1.8.
