Spider window wierdness
I have a problem with my drivers side electric window and I've not seen these specific symptoms reported in any other threads:
(for the record - my spider doesn't have auto-drop)
Pressing and releasing the button to drop the window right down - this works 50% of the time and the window goes all the way down. The rest of the time it goes down maybe an inch - then stops (and I can hear what sounds like a relay 'releasing' from somewhere in the dash area when the window stops moving)
Pressing and holding down the button, always goes down just an inch or so even with button still pressed down + same sound as above
If the window didn't drop successfully, repeated presses are then required to get the window to drop further, an inch at a time - it's a royal pain when trying to get a parking ticket in an NCP!
For raising the window, it only goes right up as expected maybe 5% of the time on the first pull of the button - otherwise it's an inch at a time again and it takes ages to get it all the way up (fnnaarrr!)
Passenger side works perfectly. I've ruled out the drivers side window switch itself by swapping it with the passenger side - same symptoms.
Can only assume that there's a 'logic box' somewhere with a fault that only affects the drivers side. Or maybe a dodgy relay ?
One other thought I've had is that maybe there's a window position sensor or microswitch, which could be incorrectly reporting the actual window position and cutting the power?
I've had the door skin off for a look but can't see much in there electronics-wise. Lubed everything while I had the skin off and it made no difference.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, it's a very frustrating problem!
