GTV Cup 131

3rd September 916 and Alfa Meet

Hello All,

After a strong showing of 916s at our July meet in Alton, in the Northern part of Hampshire, we have decided to repeat the format on the 3rd September.

The meet will be held at the Departure Lounge Cafe in Alton at 10:00. They have a good car park and a good cooked breakfast.

I will be coming up from southern Hants, leaving Hedge End (Sainsburys car park by the petrol station) at 08:30 for the run to Alton by the back roads, arriving there before 10:00.

Last month we had attendees from Surrey and Wiltshire too, who are coming again, so any members from those areas could agree convoys from there.

Looking forward to seeing James' Cup all finished.

The event is also published on the South Central board.

Hope to see you there.
Ross

Can I bring the 159 as my 916 Spider is in bits for the foreseeable future, be interested to have a chat and get some motivation for cracking on with my car?

Of course you can!
It isn't just limited to 916s, it just so happens so that several of the founders of these meets are 916 owners, so we have a particular interest in trying to get a strong attendance of 916s.

Any Alfa, or for that matter any Italian car is welcome to come.

Hope to see you there, please do just say where you are coming from if you want to try and meet others en-route.

Of course! Last time I went in my Passat and we had a Fiat Coupe there too.

Great, will be glad to see you in either car.

I have also posted the event in the Italian Marques board on Pistonheads, and some other Alfa owners have said they will come from there. Will certainly be nice to have a mix of cars to look at.

Something charming about the little twinnie though!

She has got right under my skin!

May come with a mate and bring both..:-)

Hello all,

Thought I ought to post a 'one week to go' update, partly to shamelessly push this post back up the board in case anyone else sees it who didn't the first time.

We should have some interesting cars to look at and owners to chat to- in addition to multiple 916s, including James's newly restored Cup, we will also be joined by a variety of other Alfas and some other Italian marques from a 145 Cloverleaf through to a Lancia HF.

The event has been advertised on this board, the South Central board, and also under the Italian Marques areas on Pistonheads.

Let's hope for good weather and I look forward to meeting you all.

Another brief update - James has kindly contacted the owner of The Departure Lounge Cafe in Alton, who has agreed to open the field in front of the cafe so we can park there rather than in the general car park. This means our cars will be in a better spot to be admired and for chat and photos.

Anyone wanting to meet me in Hedge End for the drive up to Alton, please be at the Sainsburys car park ready to leave at 08:30 - the map below indicates where - the bit just before the petrol station.

Ross that's a great thing you are doing for folks in your area, but aren't events/meets supposed to be in the events/area sections ?

Yes, I know, but precious few members bother with the area boards. I also have a bias to attracting 916 owners!

There are at least three others coming who didn't see the area post last time. And one of those isn't in our area.

Yes, it was excellent. Your Cup really did look fantastic after all the work you've had done.

Interestingly I asked those 916 owners present where they had seen the post for the event, and Donald, the new gtv owner had seen it here, not on the area boards.

I hope those of you not in this area can forgive the intrusion of my event based posts, but it does prove, as it did last time, that some folk just don't read the area boards for events even though they do want to come. So in my book it was worthwhile.

Hope to see even more of you next time!

Thanks Ross for arranging this, really enjoyed the meet up with you all.

To be honest I wouldn't have seen this either unless it had been in the 916 section. Got a definite bit of inspiration today to crack on with my other car and good to see the two Lancia integrale, always kick myself I didn't buy one when I had the wherewithal.

Looking forward to the next one and I'll try and get a couple of other cars to come along.

3rd September 916 and Alfa Meet Reply to Thread

A real pleasure to meet everyone.

Having just caught the Alfa Romeo bug on the 25th of August when I picked up my phase 1 GTV 2.0 TS it was great to experience the enthusiasm from other owners of the marque and to see some shining examples up close.

Big thank you to everyone for making me feel welcome.

Picked up some very useful advice.

Alan with the encyclopedic knowledge of his Spider deserves special mention, lots of info that applies to my car too, brilliant.

I have a confession to make....

rocked up this morning having got my dates befuddled in my very disorganised head!!

I had arranged to meet LittleGTv there to drop of my FMIC which i was not using so we had a good couple of hours chatting and then a drive of both mapped and Hybrid turbo'd GT's thoroughly nice chap and both cars are a blast...

so sorry I missed you all yesterday, I was really looking forward to it...I had in my head for some reason decided the 3rd was a sunday and despite several clues aong the way it wasn't went on my own merry way..oblivios as usual.

see you all at the next one ,hopefully in my little green GTV ...

It's Busso time ..

Good to see you too! Good luck with you teething troubles, remember there are plenty of people on here who are willing and able to help.
