Is this an exhaust downpipe? Need replaced to pass MOT

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if these parts (seen and highlighted in the photos) are indeed the front and rear downpipes ?

My garage says both need replacing so I went down to take some photos just now.

My car is the phase 2 3.0l v6 GTV and I actually bought a replacement (pictured) off Autolusso from ebay. I think Liam checked my regi and sent me what I thought was the correct pipe until the garage told me it was wrong.

I have 2 options, either get my local garage to fix the existing damaged one for me (the car sounds like it is farting), or get a 2nd hand replacement off ebay or something. I prefer replacing the parts with original parts or parts specifically made for the car if possible rather than have it repaired.

I think these are the parts I need:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Romeo...EAAOSwo0JWIQGU

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Romeo...YAAOSw9mFWIQTe

Does that look about right ?

But if you guys can tell me which part I need, I would be grateful

Yeah - just edited my post - it is a V6. I have just emailed Liam to see if I can sort me out something. Gonna see if I have a box to return this pipe he sent me.

I checked eurocarparts and I can't actually find a new part.

Have you got back in touch with Autolusso? I'm very sure they would sort out any issues you may have and correct them if they were responsible.

Yeah, they sent me an email via ebay about 2 weeks ago but I only had the car up the ramps and went in to have a pipe they send me this week (pipe was sent about a month ago but the garage never told me it was the wrong part until I phoned to check if it was read to pick up lol). They should hopefully send me another email. I have shot 2 emails, one on Monday and sent another one just there.

Yeah that is the wrong downpipe, or as it should be downpipes. Ring up autolusso it's better than email. Alfaholics do very good ones, and some of us (see another thread) have been trying equal length ones by cybox, you can get them on ebay, they sound great but there is clearance issues.

The manifold ends look like they were off some kind of CF2 V6, but the flexi pipe end doesn't look like anything for a GTV that I've seen.

Thanks for the reply guys. I just received a reply from Liam who seems to suggest that the pipes that are fitted on my car are aftermarket parts.

"Iím not sure what to suggest, as the pipes we have sent you from the photos are the correct pipes for a CF2 V6 GTV , it looks like the ones fitted to your car at the moment arenít genuine pipes and are patent parts."

So if that is the case, which part do I need to connect the one that Autolusso sent me?

I thought the replacement parts should be a PAIR and not a singular pipe.

I think it should look similar to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CYBOX-ALFA...-/371654576336

If the parts that Autolusso sent me is wrong, I might just sell it in the forum.

Which pipes do I need from the link : Autobits - quality parts at discount prices

Thanks again guys

The equal length ones are good but they aren't an accurate representation of the originals because they try to make the pipes an equal length.

If you look on the alfaholics site (I'm not say do or don't use them, but) they do have very good photos of what there stainless steel versions of the originals look like.

I can't see how you would sell that pipe you have shown in the picture, because who knows if it fits anything.

So can I confirm that the downpipe fitted on my car is correct and not actually an "aftermarket" part as stated by autolusso ?

And the pipe that was sent to me is actually the wrong product ?

If you have a V6 24v CF1 or CF2, then the above is wrong and the link below is right.

Wow, that is so shiny making me almost want to buy one! I would get it if I plan to keep the car for a while but I am planning to sell it soon - can't really run 3 cars properly lol.

Can I just buy these:

Autobits - quality parts at discount prices

and

Autobits - quality parts at discount prices

?

Double check the AR number on your log book to match it with the ones on those links.

I have a CF3 with an AR number ending in 105, so one of my pipes looks a lot longer.

I'd check with Alfashop, Alfa workshop, or ebspares. They are all very helpful.

It is a CF2, I think it is 1999 but it wasn't registered until 2000

How do I check if it is a single cat ?

So they'll fit. I wouldn't bother searching for anything else, as I said 'we' fit them.

It will only have one cat underneath....after the downpipes.
