Mystery electrical connector

Hi,

I had the trim out of the cockpit stowage compartment with the battery in it today. While I was delving around in there I spotted a yellow female connector with two orange wires not connected to anything - pic below. Can't see anything obvious for it to connect to. Anyone know what it is before I start trawling through wiring diagrams? Car is a 1998 phase 1 spider.

As far as I know the only electrical thing not working is the lighter socket, although the airbag light doesn't come on at start up (I suspect that the wiring is connected but the light is blanked inside the instrument panel, seems to be a common bodge on 916s).

On the plus side I did discover the missing battery cover trim stuffed down the nearside rear wing panel!

Andy

It's the second channel for the 'subwoofer' ( twin coil rear speaker ).

Connector O37b.

Ah, makes sense, thanks. The car has an aftermarket subwoofer so someone's been at the wiring. I'll stop worrying about it now.

That may mean that the aftermarket sub is only operating on one channel.

Or is there an amp somewhere being fed by left & right and then the output goes to the speaker?

Probably the former although I've never noticed a problem with sound quality. I assume the two light blue wires I can see in the photo are the other channel.

When I get time I'll pull out the head unit to see if the wiring behind it provides any clues. With the exception of the tweeters the entire system has been replaced with non-OEM items.

Cheers,

Andy
