The 156 is not a GTV and thats good and bad, there is loads of space in a 156, they handle well, and go pretty well too, but they aren't sportscars. You probaly could manage with the GTV and a child, but it will be a huge effort on your behalf. I have a family, and a 156, and my better half has a Citreon Picasso, so my car only needs to carry me, but I chose a 156 not a GTV 'cos...........
I like almost everything about it, it ticks more boxes for me than any car I have ever owned, from BMW's to American Muscle
It really can be all things to all people.
I rate the 2.5 V6 for the soundtrack, but it likes fuel, if you do biggish miles then one of the diesels would be a better bet.
For a saloon it handles well although the ride in my SP3 is harsh, it is refined at steady speeds.
I would recomend you get one with leather as spills and leaks are easily cleaned up, and Kids do spill and leak
Good luck with the car and the family, whatever you choose.
