30th July Breakfast Run

Hi All,

I am aware that not everyone reads their Area boards, and also sometimes it is nice to visit an event from an adjoining area, so I thought it would be worthwhile posting this here too.

GT Paddy and I have been planning a run out with his Spider and my Cup. This is now planned for the morning of Saturday 30th July, and we thought it would be nice to throw it open to all.

Paddy has invited our area via a post on the South Central board, but anyone is welcome, and it would be good to get a strong showing of 916s.

The plan is to drive from somewhere near Fair Oak, up to Winchester, then on to Alton for a breakfast at The Departure Lounge Cafe

Others could of course set up their own runs to meet us there. We reckon on arriving at the cafe around 09:30.

Hope to meet some of you in person!

Ross

Excellent, you can meet me in Hedge End (Sainsburys car park is always a winner) and then we can go up to Winchester to meet Paddy and the others for the twisty bits from there.

We haven't agreed a Winchester meet time yet, but I would have thought if we leave Hedge End at about 08:30 then we should be OK.

Cup convoy. Awesome.

I'd love to come Ross, particularly as that would make 3 Cups! It's not too far from me either, but from the Surrey side. However, I have my car booked in with Autolusso for an MOT and final finishing touches to the restoration so I won't have it then.
It would be great if we can get the Surrey and Hampshire Cups and 916s together again later in the year. I might email you in August.

Hi James,

Great idea, and if we check out the venue this time we can arrange another go for later in the summer. You can arrange a Surrey contingent.
You are always welcome to pop along in your normal car, as would be nice to meet in person.

Great. Let's meet in the bit of car park just before the petrol station. As you say we should be able to see (and hear) each other easily enough!

"Normal car" - that's a good way of putting it! I might just do that.
Looking at the Depature Lounge website it seems very car friendly.

Yes, it looks like Paddy has chosen a good venue. Would be very pleased if you could make it.

I always think of being in an Alfa as a special experience, just because of the way it makes you feel, so other cars are 'normal'. I'm sure the fans of other marques feel the same about the top cars in their ranges, but they don't have the same character in my opinion.

Hello All,

Less than a week to go, so thought I should confirm meeting arrangements, as Paddy has now done so on the South Central board.

Meeting is now confirmed as at 08:30 on Saturday morning (to leave, so be there by then) at the Hedge End Sainsburys car park. Come to the side by the Petrol Station.

We will then follow the route Paddy has chosen through the A roads to Alton. We should arrive at The Departure Lounge Cafe in Alton around 09:30, although we have a bit of float as the cafe opens at 10:00, when we will then have breakfast.

Hope to see as many of you there as can make it.

Ross

Hi Alan,
Great, we look forward to seeing you.
We should be there not long after 09:30. The cafe opens at 10.
James will be meeting us there in his Passat so keep an eye out for him if you get there before us.
Enjoy the drive!

Great morning out and very nice to meet a few more owners in person.
Definitely worth repeating in August or September when others can come too.
The venue was good with a large car park and nice breakfast.
I can't seem to post any pics from my phone but will try to do so when next at a computer unless one of the other chaps gets there first!

Hi Sam,

It was a very good morning out and a good venue.
We will plan another for late August or early September, and James would hopefully be coming from Surrey so you could hook up with him on the way.
I can't post pics from my phone so will add some when at my computer next week.
