Wipers!!

Chaps,

I have a 2001 3.0 GTV that's developed a funny wiper problem. On the intermittent wipe, the blades sometimes stop several times on the up sweep (fine on the way down). Only intermittent, can be fine for a week and then refuse to work properly for days.

All okay on single and double speed.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Re: Wipers!!

I had this problem on my 2001 twinspark - took the motor and linkages to pieces. The part which dictates the motion of the travel had a slight break in it. I also had problems with how far the wipers went and where they parked. But the problems started when the wipers kept stopping but only on intermittant. Had to buy the whole new assembly which they have changed the design slightly to seemingly make them more durable. It could be that the grease that was originally put on them has moved onto the contacts but his made no difference to mine

Re: Wipers!!

do a search, theres loads of info on fixing the wiper motor, i've found dry solder joints where the motor joins the board.

You have to take out the whole wiper mechanism, there is a black plastic panel on the underside of the motor, if you open that up, the circuit board is there, you may need some loctite silicon or clear silicon sealant etc to put the panel back on and protect it from having water coming through.
