Has anyone replaced the 2 cats underneath the car with decat pipes?
And has there been any problems with getting it through the MOT?
Sorry for the questions but I'm thinking of having them done.

If you contact JeffyB and James Rowe, I believe they have done this on their GTV's.

The Cybox Decat Pipe is not that expensive and again the emissions bit will vary from car to car, depending upon how its running etc. It's probably a case of fixing the pipe, running it up and having the CO2 measured to ensure it won't fail at MOT time.

If this doesn't work for you, then I am sure you'll get most of your money back on the pipe in the AO Classifieds.

Also, as a side item in my reply to your PM about the Throttle Body I have for sale, I forgot to mention that if you do buy it you will need to have the TB Sync'd with your cars ECU and a Specialist will be able to do this with AlfaDiag - unless you have the software and cables to do it yourself. Cost can vary from Free to £25.00.

If you have the "P" codes read, normally the TB failure relates to a code description of "Motoriser Throttle Control Failure" (or something along those lines) - Fuel Injection Light will be on and it will feel very lumpy on tick over and won't rev beyond 1,000rpms. You will also need to check the MAF, as sometimes these issues can be more than one root cause.

The item is already pre-packaged and I will be able to ship within x1 working day from receipt of payment. If you want RM Special Delivery by 1pm, then add on £5.00 to cover the upgrade, otherwise it will be on a x3 day economy service. Cheers - Paul

In my experience you'l be wasting your time & money + a possible lot of hassle at mot time.

I had 2002 V6 Spider(CF3) with a lovely stainless decat pipe, not Cybox, which had apparently passed 2 mots. When I came to sell, & mot, it failed the emissions......fitted the original pipe with cats, which came with the car when I bought it, & it passed with flying colours.........no decrease/increase in power, exhaust note etc. It's now collecting dust in my warehouse. It cost the last owner £250 to be made by a very reputable exhaust specialist + he then bought 2 new Lamba/O2 sensors for £153, which I reused in the original pipe.....then there's 2 lots of fitting costs.....all for nothing.

A sports cat pipe may be different to a decat pipe when it comes to the emissions but I doubt you'll notice any difference in performance....I didn't & I really put that car through it's paces to & from the mot station....nice long country roads with a long steep hill to climb on the way etc.

Save your money is my advice.

The second hand Alfaholics exhaust system I bought came with a decat section, so it went in (plugging in the old probes) and I kept the original cat section to be dropped back in case of MOT issues.
3 MOTs later in two different garages (one yesterday) have seen no problems with the decat section. I'm told this is because cf3 V6s also have manifold cats.
Not sure on any power gain - I'd like to see a before and after reading to be convinced.

Mine still had the 2 manifold cats but failed.
