Strange problem, need help?? :-(
Hey peeps,
I've got a bit of strange problem and I've no idea how to fix it, AND I bet its a real easy fix :-P
So, the last time I filled up the screen wash bottle I noticed there was some really small bits of black... something (maybe dirt) floating in the water, I didn't think much of it at the time but when my water was next empty I filled it up again and now I'm getting nothing through the screen wash pipes. I'm fairly sure its something (dirt) stuck in the pipe,
Any ideas how I could clear the blockage?!
Cheers for any help guys :-)

I'd start by unplugging the hose going into the wiper, might just be the jets that are blocked.

see if u can blow out the dirt by using a compressor airline or something like that pull the bottle off empty it and wash it out and then blow a airline thru it maybe ??

They are well known for getting a lot of muck stuck in bottom of the reservoir, looks like frog spawn, take off the inner wing cover, a few screws, pull the pump out of the bottle(its a push fit). You will probably find the screws holding the bottle to the car are rusted so dont risk trying to undo them, flush it through in situ, I used a weak bleach solution with hot water, then flushed thru cold water until it ran clear. It's a free simple fix before you try anything else, and will need doing at some time anyway....good luck.

Yep, almost certainly a blocked Filter on the tank. A quick and easy job.

On a related note, which occupation has the highest recorded instances of Legionnaire's disease?
Drivers! Be careful around that mucky washer bottle full of stagnant water!

I put mine in the dishwasher, along with other parts, brings metal up a treat.

As suggested, It'll be the little filter in the outlet from the bottle to the pump thats blocked. Seems to be a common problem but when i cleaned mine for the first time in ten years it was clear. I guess it depends what you put in the bottle - screenwash probably keeps it clear but if you mix it with washing up liquid or even just use water you probably get build ups.

The water in mine went scummy and stunk, seemed to be related to cheap and cheerful Tesco washer fluid.
I cleaned mine firstly with v hot water and a dishwasher tab, then hot water and bleach. Came up pretty sparkly.

Interesting point and something we should note when considering syphoning or blowing through washer pipes and such things, I'm sure I've had the soapy water taste in my mouth before

After having to unblock the filter mentioned every couple of years I stopped using screen wash.
I now use isopropanol alcohol (I by it buy the gallon for degreasing purposes for another hobby I have). A small amount added to plain water keeps both the screen and filter pristine.
