Door -check pin removal

I managed to get a door -check mechanism from a scrappy to replace the one that currently lets the door trap my leg on entering or leaving the car. To fit it i need to remove the old one. First task after removing the interior door panel, is to part the door check from its frame mounting. There's a "top hat shaped" pin. Does anyone know how to remove it, please? I've tried gently drifting it from above and from below. It doesn't move. Even knowing which way it drifts out would be a help, then I could hammer away with a bit more confidence. Also, maybe it doesn't drift out and the scrappy has sold me a part from a slightly different model.

It's probably the same unit as the 145, in which case there are two interchangeable types, one with a fixed pin, the other with a removable pin. Sounds like your car's got the former & the replacement is the latter type, in which case you need to go back to the scrappy & get the pin & the bracket which mounts on the door frame.

Thanks. I'd more or less come to the same conclusion, as the size of the two pin ends are both a larger diameter than the hole in the door check arm. As a removable pin it defied physics!
