GTV 2001 Wiper Blade

I've recently failed my MOT on two split wiper blades. Obviously, I will need to replace the blades, but having checked them I've noticed the driver's side is longer than the passenger side.

Does anybody know if this is standard on the GTV? i.e two different sized wiper blades? If so, where (other than from Alfa) can I purchase two odd sized wiperblades as a pair?

Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you buy the rubbers only and cut an inch off one? Its standard for them to be different lengths

they come in pairs.. one longer than the other.. with washer rail clips.. The Alfa Workshop and EB spares sell them.. amongst others.. including main dealers.. about 20 quid a pair.. you can change the rubbers.. with a bit of ****ing about.. not worth it as you'd only save about a fiver.. and usually by that stage the wiper blade pivots are worn out.

I've wondered why we buy new wipers, used to be able to buy the rubbers only, after all that's what needs replacing. Its a bit fiddly but MUCH cheaper.

I get my wiper blades from halfords, with my trade card they work out at about £7 for a set.

Just replaced the spider blades and they are both 16" compared to the 20" old blades that were on there before which used to overlap the screen!

Halfords ones are pretty good. Dont bother with refils they dont last or clean the screen all that well

I seen on ebay they sell some flat wipers with built in washer jets

You may have bought a set meant for an ALFETTA, these are either 16'' or 17''.

The size for the Wipers on a 916 car is 21'' for one side and 19'' for the other, can't remember which one is which offhand.

I fitted the Wipex ones with the built in Washers to mine and they work very well, better than OEM. Having said that it seems that some people aren't keen on these.

Cost was about £25 a set, just Google ' Wipex ' and you'll find them.
