Hmmm inner cv joint replacement

hi guys i am replacing inner cv joint on my gtv this weekend do any body knows what size socket i need for undoing the hub nut cheers guys

36mm with no greater than 45mm outside diameter.

This socket doesn't really exist in the shops (not for less than 20 quid anyway) so get your grinder out. I did quite a bit of searching!

Something non-Alfa

I did mine a couple of weeks ago, well the inner joint boot, as Turtle4288 has said you need a socket with quite slim walls to fit inside the hub.

Slacken off all of the cap screws and nuts at the inner CV.
Remove disk and calliper (don't allow weight of calliper to be carried by rubber flexi).
Split track rod end ball joint.
Take out the bolts at the base of the strut (they can be difficult), release the arb droplink and split the bottom ball joint. (It is possible to manage with releasing either top or bottom but it makes the job really awkward)
You can then extract the hub assembly complete with driveshaft.
Both CV boots can be replaced when you have removed the inner CV which should be held on with a circlip behind the end cover - if I remember correctly.
You should need to lever the lower arm to get enough clearance to lift the hub off the ball joint and put it back.- if you can do this without a lever there is a good chance that you lower arm bushes are on the way out.
I got my inner CV from Parkers for about £30.

Much easier to get the driveshaft out without removing the hub, if the hub nut comes off...

Pretty much the same as said, just without disconnecting the hub from the wishbone.

Yes this is probably the easiest option if the car is up above you and you have the correct circlip tool! (I used pliers and an extra pair of helping hands)

I bought the circlip tool from halfords for about 8 quid iirc I had the car on axle stands.

I was swapping my drive shafts for fiat coupe ones as the TS ones were too short, one side was super easy adn the other was a pig as the drive shaft was stuck, but it did go eventually.

Hm think mine is like this. Passenger side came out a little bit and dropped a little gearbox oil out. Drivers side was totally fixed into place. Didn't know if this is normal

Wrong end, splines into the outer CV. drivers side one your talking about is a half shaft which you can't just pull off as it's pressed into a bearing held under the alternator.
