Help GTV Strut Brace?

Have owned my GTV 3.0 for approx 9 months and have seen on other sites owners talking about the benefits of fitting a strut brace to improve handling. Has anyone out there done this and if so is it worth it? Is it easy to fit?

Also anyone know of a good online UK Zender stockist to buy bits from. I tried the Zender site in Germany but don't appear to be able to buy online.

Cheers

I tried e-mailing Zender once, and they don't sell to the UK, something to do with UK motoring laws? (Well, thats what they told me!)

Momo do one that fits the 2.0 ltr. Dunno about the V6 but it can't be that different. Demon Tweaks had it.

Re: GTV Strut Brace?

I little while ago ago I wanted a Zender gearknob which was listed on the Zender.de site, and after searching for ages I couldn't find a UK stockist anywhere. After contacting loads of stockists I came accross Carnoisseur - after contacting them through their web page with the Zender catalougue number (catalogue number as listed on Zender.de) they were able to order one for me which arrived direct from Germany within a week or two. Excellent service and a good price too. Highly recommended. www.carnoisseur.com Hope this helps!!!

Instrad of starting a new thread I thought I'd bring this 6 year old one back from the dead.

Does anyone know if a GTV strut brace exists? If not, would anyone be interested in a custom made group-buy?

James

Hi,

Dead simple. I have one of the above (Alfisti.net) ones. Couple of bolts, that's all. The one _slightly_ messy one (on mine) was on the passenger side. One of the bolts was nigh impossible to get either a socket or a spanner on to. In the end I replaced it with a suitable allen-head cap-screw and all was a piece of pee then.

HTH,

Ed.

A friend of mine and I bought (from alfisti.net) a steel strut brace (wiechers brand).
I had before an aluminium one (lighter) but much less stiffer.

Go for the Wiechers

and it's an easy job to install here are the pictures of my friend's car :

Strutbar can be done at home if someone is good with a welder and knows how to use angle grinder

Here is mine, it's made from stainless steel. I know that it works, because all the noises from the dashboard disappeared

Ive put one on my Spider and i think it is one of the best modifications for the price (79euro).
The car feels soooo much stiffer through the corners and more planted, less understeery and overall a must have for all spiders.

As you say, more needed on a spider, glad you found so much improvement, it is noticeable on mine, especially on the pot-ridden roads we have here after the freezing weather....

Thanks
I dont have a mig welder so its a lot of work with grinding and polishing the welds, so it would be expensive if i made it for selling.
It took me 3-4 hours to make mine.

Couple of things to add

1 - I brought a V6 with one fitted and bonnet kept pinging up. It was never dangerous but a little annoying. I kept pushing it back down and meaning to cut some carpet to make it fit better but never got round to it.

2 - I brought a red sparco bar (special order from halfords) for my Twinspark. I've never got round to fitting that at all - If anyone wants it - I'm in Portsmouth.

If you want to PM me, are you local to Portsmouth? Wouldn't want much for it, just would prefer to save the hassle of packing it up and posting (lazy).
