Wave GTV aftermarket sunroof

Anyone ever fitted an aftermarket sunroof to a GTV? I'd like to know what the options are, eg. tilt and slide, or tilt only? I'd like to have an electric sunroof fitted but would first like to know what is possible.

Cheers!

Thanks Clive. I like the quality of the aftermarket one (similar to Webasto which is available here in SA) and would probably go for a tilt & slide type. I'm not generally worried about the rain as we in South Africa don;t generally open uor sunroofs in the rainy season!

then again, in summer it's too hot to open your sunroof...

Webasto Hollandia sunroof installation video's

Don't know if they have changed the mechanism, but give it a good dose of silicone spray @ every 6 months, and it will be flawless.

Sunroofs are problematic, generally. There are potential problems with roof trim, wind noise, leaking, all of which can appear or worsen as the car ages. Also an aftermarket sunroof will almost certainly devalue your car. I wouldnt touch one personally with a barge pole; I would even be wary of the (admittedly rare) factory ones.

If you really want one, go for it but be very careful who you let cut a big hole in your roof.

I had a factory fitted sunroof on my 97 TS I bought from new. Never fully retracted, reduced headroom in the car significantly, leaked after a year or two, and jammed totally just before I sold the car. The only aftermarket one I've ever seen looked all wrong and leaked like a sieve. My advice - open the windows (or get a Spider).
