Aftermarket Steering-wheel/ boss kit

Hi there,
I've recently purchased a T-reg silver TS spider
But...
I DON'T like the standard steering-wheel.
So...
I was looking for boss-kit to suit...
...but...no luck yet
Has somebody here tried to fit maybe a 147/156 or any other specific steering-wheel to their spider/gtv?
btw...the airbag is not the problem...just need confirmation if they fit and the horn and indicator reset works
Any help would be greatly appriciated

Come on people...
Somebody must have changed the steering-wheel on either their gtv or spider

Hi there, I did as you can see from my avatar thing.

The boss was made up by LM Engineering. There's a bit thread on this on here somewhere started by me I think, so have a look.

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks Paul,
I gave them a call today...
...but the price was a bit over my budget!
£250.00+vat...I had to remember to be German and not to laugh
There must be an alternative...

I was also looking for a new steering wheel, the standard one make the car feel dated I think... Let me know if you have any look in tracking down a more reasonable solution...

I had a mono wheel on my 155 / 145 and I've got one on my 156 at the moment. I got the adaptor from demon tweaks in both cases. I would imagine that the adaptor for a 145/155 with fit the gtv.

Help

I found an Alfa mechanics company who tell me that the splines on the boss from both the 146 & the 155 are identical and will fit a 1999 spider. The boss can be bought from Demon Tweeks for £51 + vat. Momo steering wheels can then be fitted, other makes can prob fit also.

I know for sure that a 145/146/155 boss wont fit.
But a 147 boss does...

Thanks

Does the boss from a 147 need to be from any particular year as my spider is a 1999 model?

Using the same logic dose this mean the 147/GT steering wheel with Audio control's on fit directly into a phase 2 GTV ?
Am i also correct in thinking the diameter of the 147 wheel is smaller than the original GTV/Spider Item ?

Cheers
J

They are indeed smaller, should fit though I doubt you'll have a working airbag though.

Thanks for the info. are you 100% sure that the boss from a 147 will fit a spider because i will waste £51 if not!

Cheers

Well Pat (gropius) has indeed changed his steering wheel using a 147 boss kit so i'd be confidant that it'll work

i did see a 147 steering wheel with the remote control and airbag for £40 on flea bay so i might give it a go.
my only reason to swap is that i find my legs rest touching the wheel all the time

I've fitted an ektor boss kit on to my ph2 spider
...with no problems
But be aware that the automatic indicator return wont work.
A nice side-effect of the ektor boss is...it comes with a blank horn-button
Which means that the alfa badge from the now obsolete 916 steering-wheel fits spot on
A chap in Australia has been trying to fit a 147 steering-wheel with all its controls working...
...not a straight forward job...(NO AIRBAG either!)
BUT...
a 147 Steering-wheel will fit

I'll take some pictures today of my lovely momo and post them later

All it needs is two prongs on the boss to move the mechanism that cancels the indicators, would this be doable?

Also have you stuck a resistor across the air bag connector to fake an airbag being there?

I realise this is an old post but would like to swap my 1999 spider steering for a standard 147 wheel as it is smaller, do I need to also buy a boss or will it just swap over and will the airbag work I have read the previous posts but am just making sure I understand before I try.
