Well Happy Electric winndow gremlins

Help! does anyone know much about electric window faults on GTV'S what is the most common fault is it just the window switch or is it usually the motor. If it is the motor any idea on prices.

Re: Electric winndow gremlins

Not much to go on here but it seems to me that most, but certainly not all, window faults are down to the motor itself. Do a search, there is loads of info, as HM says it's not exactly a rare problem.

You can get a reg assy from on line scrappies from about £50. Two years ago I was quoted £130 by EB Spares for a new one. However I read on another recent Thread that someone paid £200.

Whether or not you want to take a risk with a used one is down to you, you may be lucky, you may not be. A lot of the second hand ones do come with some sort of guarantee but the point is that although it's not a difficult job to replace it's a bit of a pain and you really don't want to have to do the job again should the used one fail in a short time.

Bit of a gamble, I went the used route and so far.............

Re: Electric winndow gremlins

I had a problem with one window. I found the motor was U/S, I used a spare motor from a 146 (motor only). You can change the motor without removing the mechanism, a bit tight, but can be done without too much trouble.

Re: Electric winndow gremlins

I bought a used motor/arm assembly for £30 from JustAlfaSpares, had an enjoyable sunny hour or two fitting it and it works perfectly.

130 without auto-drop, 170 with.. plus vat and delivery..

But don't pay anything.. just clean your old one (see said recent post here (not the usual spider window issue... help!)

Now about the wind noise .....................

Still waiting for warmer weather to do mine - again. Really don't fancy frozen finger ends but it may come to that ! Not sure about that, more cold than cool !
