Official 916/946 UK Registrations
I have obtained official registration figures for the spider and gtv 916 and the spider 946.
First document
These figures are to date in the UK by year of registration, engine and colour. I did not ask for further detail as it was a favour from a colleague of mine.
Second document
I have attached the data for the cars that are currently on the UK roads, snapshot taken today. The data shows how many cars are left of UK roads by make/model/year. You need to compare this with the make/model/year of the first data document to see if there is a difference.
The only issue is that these include imports (the first data document was UK registrations) so the chances are that if you compare the first set of data to this set and the latest set is higher then its because the import figures have been added making it hard to tell UK registered numbers only.
The numbers are interesting to say the least and show how few some of these models were sold in the UK. Especially if you consider how many different options were available. I have attached the document for you to look at.
If anyone knows of any cars that have been scrapped, let me know and ill update the document. Document updated on 2/4/09.
Enjoy
Jay

That really shows how limited the 3.2 V6s are, no wonder they are hard to find!

Re: Official 916/946 UK Registrations
Only 27 my year and colour!!! christ didnt realise that few were around... should make us gtv/spider owners feel a little special.. As for the 3.2 V6's... they are rare! Makes me wonder how much the value will be in future if they ever become classics.

Re: Official 916/946 UK Registrations
That is interesting, it'd be even more interesting to find out how many are left. Some of the older ones have reached the age where they're not worth that much, so if they go wrong they're often scrapped.

I feel most special now
Thanks for that I had been wondering what the official numbers were. The figure 6k GTVs is banded around and turns out that is pretty much right.

Re: Official 916/946 UK Registrations
Very interesting stuff, cheers.
I wonder what percentage of GTV/spiders sold have been owned by AO members at some point in their lives, it must be a fair amount.
I've mentioned before but I'll say it again...on my drive to work I regularly pass numerous 911's/DB7s etc but only I only ever see 1 GTV every now and then, so I conclude that the GTV is 'x' times more exclusive than any of the above so-called-exotica.

Re: Official 916/946 UK Registrations
Good point well made indiekid... Who needs a 100k sports car! I also wonder how many GTVs survive to this day. If you go on 30 million cars in the UK (conservative) and 6k GTVs that still means that 1 in 50 is a GTV. I'm sure it seems much more rare than that. I must see 300 cars a day on way to work and back and if I see one GTV it's a good day

Re: Official 916/946 UK Registrations
30 million divided by 6000 means every 1 in 5000 cars surely?
for spiders around every 1 in 9380 cars

Re: Official 916/946 UK Registrations
Thanks for the info, had often wondered how many of the 6000 were V6s - turns out to be less than I thought!
Are the "Cups" included??
If so, 1 in 4 roadgoing GTVs is likely to be a Cup !!

Do you think the UK spec German imports are included?, when giving details to insurers/ RAC info check etc mine appears as Make:Alfa Romeo, Body Style:Coupe, Colour: Blue, with the Model field blank.

Yes I'd be curious to know the figures on ones left in the UK..
Makes my photo from the meet at Applecross all the more sweet I guess!
