Starter Motor Replacement on GTV 3.0 V6

Hello All,

I'm a new member and would like some help. I wish to know if there are any specialist private/independent alfa mechanics in the wirral/liverpool/cheshire areas. I used to use a really excellent independent on wirral but this closed down due to the sad death of he proprietor. I've just had a quote of £1300 to replace a starter motor on my GTV 3.0 V6 from an authorised dealership!!! Apparently this outrageous fee is driven by mind boggling labour rates of £100 p/hr. Clearly they think they are brain surgeons!

Anyhow any help would be very much appreciated.

It is a bugger of a job from what i have heard. My starter squeals a little when firing it up. Problem is the motor is behind the exhaust manifold at the back of the engine. Been thinking about trying to tackle the job - but when you cant even see the part you need to work on....

Agree with dealer charges though. Was quoted £1500 today to replace all locks on my car and recode it (got burgled in the night and some little 5hite stole my spare key)
A little excessive on price!!!
