GTV Judders at low revs and when cold?????? Please help

Hi

My GTV 2TS Judders between 0.5 and 1.5 constantly going up and down when idle or when in gear. But when i drive 30 mins or more it seems to sort it self out. It doesnt judder at high revs.

I have asked people and i had lots of suggestion

SOME SAYS (The Stig)

O2 Sensor
Cooling Sensor
Plugs
Coil
Air Flow Meter

Jesus by the time i test all these i might as well but a new Alfa :-)

Anyone out there have any ideas what it might be?

Thank you so much

Kind Regards

Efe

Re: GTV Judders at low revs and when cold?????? Please help

hmmm, I think but I don't know, prob not AFM cos it seems to affect 3/4k rpm. Has it had the plugs done? Don't hear about many prob with O2 meters, but there was recently that problem with a lot of Tesco fuel...

TBH my TS would be pretty horrid at 0.5k rpm. Drive between 1800 and 3000 when cold and 1800 and the red line when hot

The interval for spark plugs on the TS is 60k... I had mine done then and they were still working fine when they were replaced. Having said that, if you drive around at so low revs I think it might be possible to soot them up quicker.

We (my parents) used to own a 1.4 Fiat Brava - one morning it was running on 3cyl because the plugs were really sooty. My dad would've had this car serviced at the correct intervals (besides he wouldn't own a car older than 50k), but my mum used to drive it around with it practically stalling (5th @ 30mph etc) so I'm guessing this might have been why. When ever I drove that car soot used to deposit itself on the road out of the exhaust pipe

The only real problem with Tesco fuel is the one last year when they received umpteen thousand gallons of contaminated fuel from the refinery. I use Tesco fuel in mine with no problem and during the Tesco fiasco switched to Shell, can't say I noticed any difference. I don't think the problems you have will be caused by the fuel.

If you suspect the plugs, and I don't know if they are the problem, a good hard drive with high revs may clean them out. It worked for me twice a month back in the 80's when I was car sharing and so for one out of every two weeks the ex wife used it to puddle jump around town. The first drive to work after that week I really had to cane it to get it back to normal.... it did work.
