Re: 147gta,156gta,or gt 3.2,
Yep a good warranty is very important to me too. The warranty company have just coughed up 2 grand for a gearbox and diff when mine exploded on me! Still got many thousands of pounds worth of potential claims left too if it becomes necessary
And it wasn't the car's fault to be honest.

Re: 147gta,156gta,or gt 3.2,
The cost of mine was 1500 quid that included a clutch aswell, but my warranty at the time was for 1000 pounds in any one claim,i paid 250 and JCS met me half way for a good will gesture.i think mine was with the AA.
few of my previous motors.

Re: 147gta,156gta,or gt 3.2,
Nice rado and tasty looking E30 mate.
I see you're liking the 'slightly lowered' look too
I quite fancy a go in your truck as well - with no trailer

Re: 147gta,156gta,or gt 3.2,
Double 6,
I think that you and I have the same colour, not silver and not dark grey, but sort of mid.....
My wife's SW is metallic black and is a great colour - but I do definitely like the grey. I do have to confess my all time favourite is the red - but they are I imagine the hardest to get hold of.
Going back to something TB said about the brakes, both our cars have the 330 brakes, and they are quite dis-similar, on mine they take quite a lot to bite and on my wife they are pin sharp. So, when either needs the pads changing I am going to make a special note of the pads on hers and go looking for a set of those. It wouldn't surprise me if they are the DS2500 - but we have had them on a year with very little sign of wear! I also bet when I take them off I probably won't be able to tell what they are as I guess any labels will have been baked off! Let's see what happens.

Edward

For many they still will probably feel better than any other car they have tried, just the engine is probably way better too and if the brakes are severely used a few times they get fried quickly - extra speed between stops results in hugely increased extra heating of the brakes.

My brake upgrade started with DS2500s and new hoses and fluid - I did have a serious problem with almost unbearably loud brake squeal though. After several months of trips back and forth to the shop, they eventually upgraded me to the Performance Friction pads - almost no noise, excellent bite, next to no fade - very nice!

Trailbraker my apologies,
i obvously missed your reply. when i was sorting my avatar,
i would like the 330's but if i have to have the 305's i'll do what you said,i must say alot of my driving is a roads and b roads so a bit of throttle never goe's a miss, one other thing can you tell the difference in braking with the 305's and 330's.

I grew up with ERF's and Seddon Atkinson 's,then moved on to volvo's
f12 globtrotter's ,renault premium,man's,dafs,allsorts reall'y,
merc is a lazy drivers motor just knock a gear and as you slow to an island, say just dip clutch and it will grab the correct gear same going up the box.
So is someone or yourself involved with trucks, i was the young lad who would go trucking with is dad and he showed me the ropes.
Double-6 you will get me banned if we talk about trucks lol.

Re: 147gta,156gta,or gt 3.2,
I often wonder how these specialists manage to locate such good cars, and track them down, garages i suppose they help each other out.

Re: 147gta,156gta,or gt 3.2,
Nah, I was a poxy 7.5 driver when I was 18 mate. The irish drivers used to let me have a go in their proper trucks around a huge trading estate
(usually whilst they burned a pile of taco discs or something equally dodgy!)

Sounds about right, but now like in the merc and all the new motors they are digicard, if you look at the pic with radio on left on the right is the digi tacho, you pop it in the slot same size as a bank card, the company registers you a card which they send off the application to dvla,
also that is why some driving jobs advertise for digi card experience or if a driver as applied for one, because an agency may be advertising for a company what have a new fleet of trucks all with digi tacho. The old tachograph cards will fissle out soon i'm sure eventually some clever driver will be able to fiddle the digi one's soon if not already.
BTW was your car in evo mag my bro bought the mag, but beleive it or not i did not ,i wish i did now.
Cheers,
Attila.

I've not looked at the mag yet,i know my brother as it though so I'll have to check it out.
I'm in turmoil now, dont know who it was but I'm almost certain that he has to be off this forum ,a lovely 147 GTA pulled out a drive way and went down a52 it was in red the car could not get any shinier, i pulled up at side of him at the traffic lights i wanted to chat but he would not look over,i'm sure he thought i wanted to race him .
He was with his woman ,all i can say is the car was a 53 plate with GTA badged on the front wings,
my wife was not happy that i got rid of mine now, neither was i so do i want a 147 GTA now at least i can put the seats down it was so brutish how can any one not want to own a GTA they just dont age.
the driver may pop in soon .

Re: 147gta,156gta,or gt 3.2,
Oh yes, you can notice the difference , fade free reassuringly impressive stopping power.
However with upgraded fluid/pads/hoses etc the 305mm will be fine for most folk.
Charlie I have just tried the Performance friction pads courtesy of Ned, detailed review coming soon!
They are excellent, and very quiet.
Perhaps the perfect all-round pad?

Yes, I thought them excellent, next to no fade, much much quieter than the DS2500s, and wonderful feel even on my crazy mountain drives in Hakkone (dozens and dozens of back to back hairpins on desolate but smooth mountain roads - usually drive hard till my arms tire, take a break and back at it!). Definitely looking forward to your review as I never had my GTA on the track and I was wondering how these would hold up on a circuit...

Re: 147gta,156gta,or gt 3.2,
24v,
Could we book the Merc in and take it for a few laps around Brands.... Always fascinated by those video from the 80's? when they used to race the in the UK and Europe. Does any of that still happen?
