Upgrade recommendation by ALFA to 330?

Hi,
About the 330 brake upgrade to 156 GTA 2002.

Is there a written recommendation from ALFA to upgrade to 330? Or something like that?

Can someone please point me to some official paper by ALFA , my local dealer tells me that there is no such thing, and the original is enough..

To my knowledge, that's correct. There never was any "official" upgrade for the GTA brakes. It was just that later models, after a certain date, were equiped with the larger brakes (obviously because Alfa decided there was a need

). For earlier models, equiped with the smaller 305 brakes, the unofficial policy was that if people had problems with these (i.e. 2 or 3 times warped discs), the brakes were upgraded to the larger type, or alternatively, if the customer wanted, you could upgrade even without having problems if you payed an upgrade fee...

Thought that if there was some official stuff then they will not charge me for a full price and we can work something out. but....

its a hard slog to get them to do it but only if your 305's are in a bad way?

My 305's on my 156 GTA were in a bad way so I reported it to ARUK.

They asked me to have them checked by my local Alfa garage, which I did, and they agreed - the 305's were pretty poor and were warped.

Had a number of conversatiosn with ARUK customer services - at first they offered £200 in vouchers - I said NO WAY.

Then they offered to replace the warped 305's with new 305's - again I said no way.

Eventually they releted (sort of) and agreed to a decent contribution towards the cost (60%).

I got a figure from my local garage, got written confirmation from ARUK that they would reimburse me 60% of the cost of the parts (I had them fitted else where).

Bought the parts and got my 60% refund.

When I got the complete kit, I asked for a discount to, and got it. Total came in at around £750, of which ARUK send me a cheque for 60%.

It is worth pursuing the matter.

My car was out of warranty as well - it was registered April 03, but as it only had 20k mile, I argued that although the car way 4 years old, given that it only had 20k miles of wear on the brakes, they should not have warped. It took some persuasion, so don't give up.
