Tyre Pressures - What a difference

Hi guys

In an idle moment whilst waiting outside a shopping centre at the weekend, I decided to go to the nearby petrol station and check my tyre pressures.

Previously I had always been running my Michelin Pilot Sport 2s at 2.5 bar (front) and 2.3 bar (rear) as stated in the manual. It is usually just me in the car.

I thought I would experiment this time, and went half way between the guidelines - 2.7 bar on the front and 2.5 bar on the rear.

Wow - the car now seems to be much more planted, and it also soaks up bumps a lot better too.

Worth a try as a free (or 20 pence) mod!

Re: Tyre Pressures - What a difference

I had the same sort of Eureka moment from dropping the pressures on mine, to about 32psi all round, with P Zero Rossos and rarely more than 1 or 2 people in the car.

I think it depends on personal taste and the tyres themselves - if they have soft sidewalls, they need more pressure, and vice versa. The P Zeros have quite a stiff sidewall.

mmmm....interesting - im having issues with my dunnies on from of my gt - still got pzeros on back - think dunnies are firmer rubber than pzeros maybe :/ might improve with less air may be - 2.4 on front and 2.3 on back is current standard

I always set the tyre pressure halfway between min&max, gives improved steering feel over lower inflations.

Re: Tyre Pressures - What a difference

Changing my PS2s from 34/30 psi to 38/32 psi made a very detectable difference going over rough tarmac. Much less crashy now - with 1 or 2 people. Completely useless on bad roads no matter what psi with 4 or more people in the car.

mmm... oh right - less crashy with more psi - might give that a go - just had dunnies swapped to back - zeros on front now
