Wave 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

Hey Guys!

i just got my 156 GTA -04 1month ago and im really happy with it, ive got a few problems/messages showing up.

but first of i would like to know if the navigation system the blaupunkt travel pilot DX i think its called... does it have any RCA connections on the back of it so i can connect a amp/sub? i cant stand the sound of the subwoofer from "bose" so i got my self a old 10" rockford punch speaker and a rocford amp that sound great so im thinking of putting that in the trunk and maybe also move the "cd-changer" to the front.

regarding the messages i get, first off its a motor failure that shows up now and then... just a message that has shown about 10 times now on lets say 20 different starts... 1 of thoose starts the motor symbol started to blink on the car and the car was kinda vibrating in a very strange way... so i shut it of and did a restard and everything was fine again... ive booked the car for a checkup on tuesday 3april.

another problem i get is a EBD Brake message... not sure what that can be but ive seen it 2 times no more... and offcourse the service shows up some times...

the workshop did a reset on all 3 messages and well they showed up the next day... so any thoughts on what to do?

regarding the engine/motor ive seen a post regarding a lambda sensor or something im not sure if i understood that right.. but the workshop had never heard of this fault on a 156 GTA before... so they wanted me to take out the post from this forum was kinda amusing to hear..

oh and also i will be reciving my 18" bbs challenge "black painted" rims this week so im looking forward to buy a set of new wheels and maybe coilovers deppends on how the car looks....also maybe a set of new breaks, anyone got any good brakes to recomend or shall i stick with original.

Re: 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

How many miles has it got? Another culprit for the motor failure/error could MAF/Air flow meter...

The Blaupunkt RNS4 Nav headunit, does not have RCA outputs per say but has a mini iso socket, with speaker channel outputs, and also a remote turn on lead, for the purpose of connecting an amp. You would need to get the mini iso connector. Can be found on bluespot.co.uk

Here is the link for the lead:-

http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/preamp.asp

This is only for front and rear channels though...there is no "Sub out" lead...so perhaps a crossover could be used on the rear channels for a sub?

Re: 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

thanks for a quick answer

the car has gone 19500km right now, so its basicly new imo

i was just by the store that will be mounting the speaker and well they didnt even check the connections or the car, they just said that they will dissconnect the sub and just use a adapter connection so the amp will just run the speaker i want mounted... so well i guess they know what to do..

im just a bit affraid that the interior will make more sound since they basicly need to take everything out.. backseat floormat etc...

im also curious is there a sub in the car or is it the backspeakers that do all that sound? the ones mounted in the rear/neck

Yeah the BOSE setup comes with a small sub, mounted under the parcel shelf.

the question remains, shall one connect all speakers to the amp or just the new 10" box. any thoughts?

Re: 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

Mine is an 04 and I occasionally get the motor control failure light on start up, which disappears immediatly. The car runs fine, and economy is fine so i just ignore it!

Re: 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

The Lambda sensor thing could have been from mine a short while ago as I got this error message, BUT it was as a result of the dirty fuel escapade.

It wasn't just any garage either, it was Jamie Porter's Alfa Workshop in Royston, so if they said the error message came up because of the lambda sensor, then I would put a bet on it that they were right.

Who reset your system? And why did they think that it could not be the lambda sensor (or sensors)?

Cheers

Re: 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

I have also had the same fault code that turned out to be a failed lambda sensor, surely your workshop's diagnostic equipment should be telling them where the fault is?

Re: 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

well thats the problem, according to them they didnt see any faults except for the error messages they cleared off...

the workshop im using is a well known in stockholm/sweden...
i mentioned the info i found on this forum and well they are kinda interested to see what might be wrong with the car...

im not really sure if there is something wrong with it, its just that im a bit worried since the dashboard started to blink with the motorsign on and off so i booked a checkup for that fault and see what they say.

edit:
btw as i might have mentioned before ive had a 156 v6 2,5 before and well i didnt do much to it my self except for fitting some new breaks and style it up a bit...
now im curious where the h*ll do you poor out the antifreeze lub? i want to change it out and im not even sure where to start :P
my guess would be to start under the car :P

Re: 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

Zeggi, sorry for the OT, but where did you get the car and how much was it(just curious) ?
Mind posting some pics for everyone here ?

As for the error codes, never seen those on my GTA, but as long as they dissapear, nothing to worry about.

Re: 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

Hey Alexandrus, i bought the car from germany i went down from sweden to germany and bought it and drove the beauty all the way to sweden which isnt the first time. I bought a 156 v6 2,5 -99 before so this was my second time

its a Red/black 156 GTA 200310 which has just been driven under summer time so that means low km 16 500km was the stand on when i bought it so now its about 19 700km.

regarding thoose error codes, the motor is the only one that shows from now on... so ebd is gone and the service is gone since i did a reset when i changed the oil

i will be posting pics soon i got a few on the breaks, im not sure if its 305 or 330 according the the workshop its 330... those are the only pics i got right now so, il be posting some when i get my rims this/next week. siden black painted BBS challenge 8,5*18"

Re: 156 GTA questions NAV/ERROR/BREAKS

330. Look at the link on the top of this section and you will see how to tell the difference between 305 and 330set up.
