ebc brake pads?????????

Has anybody tried the red stuff pads? got a 147 gta with the 330's discs on and just wondering if they would be any good! I know the ds2500's would be better but my dad can get ebc at trade so it works out at about half the price of the ds's! its for road and track use i need them 4.

Re: ebc brake pads?????????

AFAIK In the "EBC hierarchy of crapness" :

1) I know track day mates who think EBC Greenstuff has similar effect to replacing your brake pads with some wet leaves

2) I know other track day mates who hate Yellowstuff and say it falls apart under hard use. I can't vouch for this personally, since I have only seen it fall apart under moderate use on a damp track day..

3) I don't know much about Redstuff but suspect it fits into the middle of the EBC hierarchy of crapness

Maybe somebody can confirm more precisely whdther its upper/lower middle of the crapness scale?

One of the problems with EBC is that they apparently vary the friction coefficient hugely between batches - so much for standards.

Cheers,
TB

I'm not a doctor - but I really do recommend braking later

No there pads dont last two minutes, no matter what colour, you will not really be saving cause you'll be replacing them in no time

Reds are also the most abrasive and noisy in the range

(Sorry EBC it seems we dont favour your pads)

Ferodo are worth the money

Re: ebc brake pads?????????

The brake pads I use in my race car are the same paten as the ones that are used in the Brembo callipers that are fitted to the GTA, GT 3.2 and the 159 2.4/3.2.

I have tried every brake pad on the market and there is only one I will ever use.

http://www.performancefriction.com/pages/about_pfc.htm

The part number you need is “1001.11” these are for fast road and track use. They are available from Demon Tweeks for £112.91 + Vat.

It is a good idea to use high temperature brake fluid.

Once you guys have tried these you will never buy any other brake pad!!!!!!!

Sorry EBC’s are cr@p

Re: ebc brake pads?????????

EBC pad colours go from Green (road use), Red (fast road use) to yellow (track use).

All the words in quotes should be taken with a pound of salt, unless you drive a 1.1 Corsa then they are probably ok.

Otherwise in my experience stick to good manufacturers like Ferrodo, Pagid or Mintex, not tried PF's.

I've used ebc reds with their discs on a 155 for track days and they were terrible. Switched to Ferodo'd with standard discs and it was amazing

Re: ebc brake pads?????????

If you do a search there are a lot of opinions on EBC about, mostly not good.

I have yellowstuff on my car now, soon to be replaced by Ferodo. The yellowstuff is at 40% now, after 12 000 km, and no track days! A really false economy. DS2500 will last much longer than that. So will Pagids.

Plus I would be scared to take the yellowstuff on track, I can get fade on the road!!!!

Re: ebc brake pads?????????

Hmmm, I think I must be lucky then. I have done 300 ish laps of Snetterton on EBC Redstuff ceramic pads without a problem, and at the end of the Revett straight you are probably braking harder than any circuit in the UK.

They went on with new Zimmerman disks, OEM spec, and have been fade, noise and vibration free with good bite. Maybe not quite as good as Pagids, but close enough for my driving (lack of ) skill! I can only call it as I see it and would recommend them from experience. The pads may well last longer than my Toyo's.

Re: ebc brake pads?????????

Thats a relief since the Toyos only seem to last for 2 track days for a few of my mates
Very soft tyres! They reckoned I might have to swop them around by lunchtime to get a full day out of them in my car.

What engine was in the car you were using the EBC stuff for Markvrs?
