Should I go for it?
Need some motivation here mates! I have enough money to afford the GTAs but I'm not sure about the long run for the cars. I have two choices now it's either the GTAs or the Golf. I know the Golf looks really good on the paper but the looks doesn't impress me much but for the long run it's really reasonable for me since it's cheap but the GTA however really made me smile during driving, nice place to be in,the looks and the SOUND its just too good to be true but reliability issues seems to be a concern because I haven't own one of them. Really the head says Golf but the head and heart says the Alfa but I'm not what others would say about it though and whatever I choose, it would be spending time on track days regularly.
so I hope you all can give me advise on which one should I choose(obiviously the Alfa) If the Alfa it is, I would like to hear lots of encouraging words from you guys.
Thanks!!!

Re: Should I go for it?
Got to be a GTA, for the looks, the sound and believe me they are reliable and not bad on fuel either.. You don't say if your after a 147 or 156, but both are good on the track. If your after a 147 GTA, mine is for sale, with a good spec, plus it is already re-mapped and has coilovers fitted a must for track days.. See For sale section.
Good luck.

I would consider the offer but the problem is....I live in Malaysia unless if I opted to stay there for a couple of years then maybe there is no problem taking that 147 .

Re: Should I go for it?
Go for the GTA.... as a driver's car it will provide endless entertainment and satisfaction
As for reliability, my car has had a couple of minor problems, which were resolved very quickly under warranty, and so far it rates as being the most reliable car I've ever owned

Re: Should I go for it?
GTA all the way... (as he said)
except that the v6 (any v6) eats fuel in city traffic....
Couldn;t live with the golf though.
I used to run a GTA and a smart for2 to cover all the bases. The smart was cost neutral....
Simes.

The head says 350z, the heart says Alfa.....
Regarding trackdays issue I reckon as soon as you got the GTA, install a quaiffe / AD LSD. Just my 2c

Re: Should I go for it?
Need motivation Hanifcd? - have you driven a GTA yet? A test drive is all you'll need to make up your mind. They really are great cars.

My strategy is to embrace both a Golf and an Alfa.
My Golf is not the R32, which is probably what you had in mind, but I did drive the R32 last week, down my favourite lanes. It did not set my world alight, it felt heavy and lumbering and not much faster compared to my Golf GT. Probably the bigger engine and 4WD system. On the plus it did sound fantastic - the 6 cylinder soundtrack is not necessariy the exclusive preserve of Alfa these days.....but overall I imagine that the GTA would have more soul and hey, that is important.
If you were not looking at the R32, then the Gti and GT Golf are very good, but not in GTA territory and have nowhere near the character.
