Missing Code Card for Keys for 156 GTA

Just received the manual for the GTA from Simes (as I didn't get one with the car ).

Anyhow, reading through this, I see that Alfa state it is important for a new owner to receive the Code Card for the keys. I didn't receive this, so my question are as follows:
Can I get a replacement card from Alfa? What sort of cost?
Should I call Veloces where I got the car from and tell them that as I have just received the manual from another GTA owner (as they did not supply me with a copy!!), it is clear to me that this card is vital and that it should have been provided, and that therefore they should get the replacement card from Alfa, or at least reimburse me any cost if I have to go to Alfa?

Waht do you reckon I ought to do?

Last thing I want is for there to be a problem because this Code card is missing!!!

Cheers

Re: Missing Code Card for Keys for 156 GTA

The code is important only if you ever need to order a new key for the car, or if your car gets stollen, otherwise you won't need it. But it would be a good idea to try and obtain it from the dealer, and if they do not have it try to make the pay for the locks change

UK main dealer supplied cars had the code cards removed and the info stored on a database.

You can request the card from a main dealer parts dept for about £10.
Also get the code for the alarm (which is not on the card).
On the code card there is also the code for the emergency start procedure, useful if your code ECU goes squiffy.

Yeah UK cars dont have code cards issued with them, the ABI dropped the cars insurance rating because of this.

Imports do have the cards, as David says, the dealer will provide the code on proof of ownership.

This applies to the 156 and 147, all models with immobilsers, not just the GTA's

if the battery needs changing in the key can you just swap it over or does it need recoding?

The code chip is passive in the key, it doesnt need the battery to operate, the battery works the alarm and central locking function only.

Re: Missing Code Card for Keys for 156 GTA

Thanks guys. I will give my local Alfa garage a call in the new year - I still haven't received my V5 from the DVLA (but I have only had the car for 2 weeks!), but when I have it I will go to them and get this code card.

Cheers
