Steamy window
Anyone noticed the rear window of their Gt taking a heck of a long time to clear when it's steamy or frozen?
Mine seems to take an age.

Re: Steamy window
Mine seems ok. Do you have a rear wiper on your GT? They forgot to put one on mine unless that's normal not to have one. Unlike my wife's Mini Cooper which gets dirty very quickly, the GT rear window seems to stay clear.

Re: Steamy window
The GT doesn't come with a rear wiper. To be honest, the shape of the car shields the rear window from a load of road dirt.
To demist, mine takes probably 30 secs. As soon as I hit the button you can see it taking effect through the rear view mirror.

Re: Steamy window
No, mine takes an age. The other day It took nearly 15 minutes and wasn't completely clear - had to press the button again for another period. have to say though that I only use her about twice a week at the moment as I bike to work so it might just be a lot of condensation building up in the car (it's been terribley wet round here recently, never a day withouit heavy rain).
She's going in to County Motors at the weekend for a couple of minor items and I've asked them to have a look. also getting them to give the car a thorough going over as it will be two years old in May and that ends the Pan European factory warranty. Remember guys, the third year warranty ain't an Alfa one and it's not as comprehensive.

GTs are designed not to have a rear wiper, but something to do with aerodynamics means that it clears itself at 60mph (I think). If you have a spoiler I think this messes things up a bit.
@Will - My rear windscreen clears pretty quickly and definitely doesn't take so long that I'd notice. But then, what are you doing to get it steamed up in the first place

Re: Steamy window
try with splitting of the air flow between the windscreen ( arrow up ) and rear lower parts ( arrow down )
should be fine

Lynn, much as my good lady and I enjoy a steamy "romp" now and again (and again and again ) the inside of a an Alfa GT would not be the place of choice......

Re: Steamy window
No. I reckon there's something up with it, maybe a poor connector or summit.

Re: Steamy window
I just use the demist function on the climate control (upper segment button on the right hand side cluster). This starts all sorts of fan speed and air distribution programs running as well as switching on the heated rear window. It takes about 5 minutes before the fans really ramp up as I think Alfa Romeo will not let you pinch heat from a cold engine to warm the ventilation air , wise engineers that they are. My heated rear window is clear in approx 1 mile.

Thanks david, all good advice. It's amazing how long it actually takes to understand how that climate -control system works. I've taken to reading the manual in bed and trying to learn it bit by bit.
radio is just as confusing. took me ages to figure out the AF/TP function. Now working on the CD display options. trying to get it show the title of the Album (no joy yet).

I remember my GT used to take ages to demist the rear window too. As for the album titles on the CDs I think you have to enter the details yourself ie. put in a CD select album title and enter in the characters and store. Remove CD, put new one in and repeat. It only lets you put in about 8 characters and not really worth the effort IMO.

Re: Steamy window
Whilst we are on the subject of CD players etc, does anyone know if there is a 'random play' function on the cd changer? I can't find it in the manual so assume there isn't one. Shame that.
