Exhausts

Hi guys

I was pretty much set to get a new sports exhaust as my back box is rusting (and rattling), but as I have had to get the driveshaft fixed this will now wait a while.

Could you help me with these questions:

- Would corrosion of the back box be an MOT failure;

- Is there anything that can be done to stop the corrosion of the back box; and

- When I do send off for an exhaust (i.e. Autodelta), what's the normal process? Do you just get it delivered to your house and then take it to the dealer to get fitted?

Cheers

Re: Exhausts

corrosion in itself will not be a failure unless it has resulted in a hole etc...

could always spray/brush with an antirust product to delay any further corrosion

get the exhaust delivered and if not possible to fit yourself get a good quality exhaust fitter to fit it...

Re: Exhausts

Cheers Mike.

One more dumb question as I haven't had an after market exhaust before.

Do the sports exhausts effect the emissions at all for the MOT test?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Exhausts

the pass/failure mark does not change..if for instance the new exhaust resulted in an increased emission reading which failed the MOT you would have to look at replacing it to pass...

Re: Exhausts

I never had any emissions issues with a twin-pipe Supersprint exhaust on my 155.

Re: Exhausts

the chances are that you will not with this one...its more likely when you remove a cat and replace with a straight through pipe....

Re: Exhausts

Cheers guys. I meant does the changing of the exhaust mean the car puts out more emissions and thus may fail the test.

Hopefully not!

Can't wait to get the car back once the driveshaft is sorted!
