You left me, just when I needed you most...
Hi all
picked up a GT (black, red leather, etc) a few weeks ago and love it! Haven't driven it a whole lot, but finally started to get down on the fuel level.
A while before it hit the red and before the little light in the benzina dial came on, I'd get a fuel warning on start up. What drove me nuts was the range function wouldn't show anything (at exactly the point when you kind of need to know how far you've got left to find a petrol station....)
on refueling, it all started working again. I'm happy to be told to "read the manual, you idiot", but is this standard stuff? can it be adjusted?

As far as I am aware, the trip computer only reads down to 50 kms to empty. After that you're on your own...

And don't let it get to zero on the dial, I found out in my first couple of weeks of ownership that on an alfa zero MEANS zero.

Re: You left me, just when I needed you most...
Had fun coming back from France once with this. I was in a hurry to get home and so didn't refill in Dover when I had the chance, and therefore spent the journey home watching the petrol needle in my old 147 creep down to nothing, and the range computer eventually gave up and went blank.
I managed to get to a Shell garage on the way home with the needle buried in the red, and it took on 64 litres, if the pump was correct. Pretty extraordinary, since the tank only holds 60 litres. Must have been deep into the reserve..........

I got the trip computer on a Mondeo to go down to -18 when in France a couple of years ago.
It was a hire car so we had no experience of the range or how much is in reserve.
Let's just say I was sweating abit when we finally found a petrol station.

My 156 gives up, flashes limited range and then shows ---- after 40 miles. Just remember if you go that low you stand a chance of sucking up any crap at the bottom of the tank.
Also know someone who always tries his luck and on his new Astra VXR let it get down to 10 miles, parked on a hill and then couldn't start it again

Re: You left me, just when I needed you most...
When we bought our GTA, we traded our Mini Convertible and the range said 3 miles! I doubt the Alfa guy was very impressed when he started her up!! Ha Ha!!
Got to admit the Mini's trip computer was far far better than the Alfa's, it hasn't got the bottle to give you a rough estimate under 40 miles left, the Mini was on 3!! Sorry, it just makes me smile every time I think of it!! IT WAS ON 3!!

All the Alfa's are the same, when it gets to the reserve,(ie the light comes on) the range function is inhibited.
Not a fault.
