Sportwagon tyre wear

What sort of mileage are people getting out of their rears on a Sportwagon?, I seem to remember some discussion way back about it. My Cars got 9000 Miles and the whilst the front's are OK the backs look pretty bad and are in that noisy phase which 156 Tyres seem to have before they finally expire.
Tyres are P zeros, 225/45 17's

Re: Sportwagon tyre wear

I have P Zero Rosso's and just swapped front to rear at 11k miles. The fronts were about 3/4 worn but the rears were almost like new. Most of my miles are motorway miles, though...

Edited to correct mileage - it's 11k!!!

dunno Wrinx,
Doubt it actually It was a Fiat management car, so I get the impression it was just 'run', rather than 'Owned', if you know what I mean.

Re: Sportwagon tyre wear

Mines a GTA but doubt if there is much difference in tyre wear.

Think I would get similarish mileage to Jwyatt for pure road use, but haven't managed to avoid the track for long enough to be sure.
On the road the rears seem to last forever, with only about 1/3 the rate of the fronts for me on Michelin PS2's.

I was pleasantly suprised though at the relatively reasonable tyre wear for road use, was expecting much worse.

Cheers,
TB

Sounds like the fronts have been swapped to the rear before you bought it. You shouldnt notice heavy wear on the rear tyres on a GTA, its the fronts which usually last between 8 and 12k

Re: Sportwagon tyre wear

I'm starting to think you might be right about them being swapped, I also suspect one has gone out of shape. Bit suspicious about that actually

Re: Sportwagon tyre wear

Only replaced rears once - but I think they had done about 18,000 miles - my fronts give about 7,000 / 8,000 miles - all on P Zero rosso's (extra load) version or something like that - i.e. specifically for high performance load carriers!
