GTA quickshift

Not sure if anybody has followed the discussion going on in the 147/156 section (here: http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/showt...972#post570972), but Im thinking of trying to make up a quickshift for my 147GTA.

anybody know of a company that already sells one for the GTA?

Re: GTA quickshift

You wont see this seen as you are being stupid and have me on ignore, but maybe somebody will pass this on to you.Theres none for the GTA.

If you want a quick shifter kit then you will have to have one custom fabricated/machined.I have 1 in my 147 turbo. My mechanic machined/fabricated it with his CNC machines.

If you ask nicely he might just be prepared to make 1 for you,but only if you are nice and be a good little boy.

Re: GTA quickshift

Update - have found a company in Japan that makes a quickshift for the 155, anyone here know if the 155 mechanism is roughly the same as the 147?

Re: GTA quickshift

Are you prepared to share the details of the company in Japan who makes the quick shift for the 155?

I would like to know if I can obtain one for my 155.

This question is for Alfadublin: Is there a noticable difference in time taken to shift? Is it a worthwhile preformance mod?

cheers

Just had the custom short shift kit installed at 9pm tonight.WOW,amazing 30% less gear throw, the gear stick is 55mm shorter than the standard one and its a real smooth and fast gear change.Go to the 147 section for pics of the procedure.

If I want something for my car and nobody makes it,then I get it custom made.I always get what I want.

Hi Humour,

No problem - its Auto Iwase:

They are a very good company with an excellent reputation for quality. The prices reflect this....

i bought a quickshift kit from japan for my previous 147gta... it was specifically made for it and somehow they only had 1 unit in stock... once i bought it they took the product off their website and has been out ever since.... its a direct bolt on kit complete with fitting instructions (in japanese of course) and i had to remove the whole front exhaust pipes + heatshield to access the gearbox from below to fit the short shift.

im not sure who is the manufacturer but on the box was printed ZAKSPEED.

it pushed the gearshift higher and the shifts were way much shorter, however the 5th gear had a very short throw & u had to get used to it in order not to miss the slot in. Other than tat it worked perfectly.

i left the quickshift intact when i sold me 147gta... u wldnt believe wat my AR agent told me when i asked them to remove it

i bought my set from flatout...

Right - got a reply from flatout, they say they can still get the zakspeed quickshift and it costs 45150 yen (about £200). Have asked for more details and if possible a picture....

Only just noticed this....Paddy, this is TOTALLY unnacceptable. This person obviously has you on ignore for a good reason, do not have a go at him.

This is your last warning.

What have I done ou YOU now? Thats way over a week old and in the past and well forgotten about. Please leave it in the past.I have, and by the looks of it so has Ukoldschool.

Seems like you want me banned and out of here for good.I dont know why,as I have been behaving myself and being polite and helpfull/informative to other members. Also at the end of that post there was and is a Wink and a LOL emoticons.

My mechanic will make/machine short shifter kits for 147 or GTA.He machined/fabricated one for me,so I was just letting Ukoldschool know.Well trying to anyway. So I was simply asking some other members to let Ukoldschool know.I dont think that is being nasty.

You haven't done anything to me. However, insulting other forum users will not be tolerated, simple really.

Well maybe in future other members should not run their mouths off over stuff they know nothing about or purposely start new threads to mock me or call me a liar with regards to myself or my mechanic or my car and its spec then dissappear for 3 or 4 weeks.I dont like being called a liar or it being implied over me or the car.

That seems to be tolerated though, but a simple straight to the point comment by me is not.Why is that then?

Back on topic now.UKoldschool,my mechainic will make one for you,at a price of course .But just one thing in future, please dont do what you did to me here a few weeks back.I did not like that one bit,it was sly and not called for.It would be nice of you to answer me and take me off of ignore so that I can explain to you how my car works and explain to you about turbo sizes and specs and turbo lag and boost, and also talk about quick shift kits.

You seem to be very very miss informed about this,so I merely wanted to chat to you and give you the real facts about turbos and my cars hybrid turbo.

Anyway if you dont want a billet quickshifter kit, then best of luck getting one or making one.Dont ever say that I never offered though and dont call me a liar or mock me again. This is meant to be a friendly forum so please dont wreck any of my threads in future or start threads to mock me or anybody company assosiated with building the car.I will respect you and your posts now if you do the same for me aswell.Thanks.

Zakspeed...aren't they based in Germany? If so, would it be possible to deal straight with them ISO shipping it half way round the earth and back again?

I cant work out if the Zakspeed that makes high end bits for cars sold mainly in Japan is the same company that used to be big in Germany in the 70's or not. It could be that they are the same or completely seperate........

Re: GTA quickshift

Yes....i see what you mean.. doesn't look like their homepage has anything to do with Alfa race parts...

£200 for the kit from Japan...how much is included? Like you said most of the cost is in the installment.

How about the original system fitted to SeleSpeeds? that stick is very short! maybe the parts which determine distance from Fulcrum can be used on a manual?

Re: GTA quickshift

Im still waiting for an answer back from flatout on whats in the kit...

Ive been thinking about the GTA selespeeds more and more lately... might have a rummage in the EPR tonight and see what is different - it may be something simple, but chances are its a whole new clutch assembly plus more.......

ukoldschool jus saw ur msg... the jap words 次のユーザーに送信されたメッセージの開封確認です if translated directly means:

"It is opening verification of the message which was transmitted to the following user"

haha... i believe its not crucial to ur short shift project...

i believ the zakspeed in japan has no affliliation wit zakspeed germany.

anywys, here is anothr source for QUICKSHIFTs - specifically 155v6/ts 156s etc...

hope it helps!
