156 gta pollen filter (missing)

Guys i know this has been covered a few times in the 156 forum but wondered if the gta filters are different.
Lately i've been getting a slight pollen type smell when the aircon comes on so i tried the comma anti fungal type spray (leave it for ten minutes or so on recirc to kill any germs) and worked for a total of 2 days now the smell seems worse than ever so today i had a quick look for the pollen filter, took out the scuttle screws etc pulled it back and found an inlet with a grill on the top but no filter and no filter housing! is it missing or are they somewhere else (behind glovebox?) if anyone can help i'd really appreciate it. Oh tried the burn the germs trick with heater on full for 15mins and that didn't work either
