so how much were th e18" option then? I take it you just took the 17's (but the ones that fit the brakes)?

Re: ***Definitive 147/156 GTA brake upgrade thread***

Alfa rang me a few days back to say that the 18"'s weren't to be used, but to use the ones they have just fitted!
The 18" alloys were £285 ea + vat+ tyres! But if I wanted them it would work out around £550 + tyres for 4 when they took the upgrade items into consideration. But I decided to stick with the 17"'s as I haven't got the extra cash to splash on the 18"'s .

Is it your original spacesaver or a new one?
There is a revised spacesaver to suit the later brakes.

Re: ***Definitive 147/156 GTA brake upgrade thread***

No, i didnt get the repair kit either! or a revised space saver, but o be honest i havnt looked yet!

if you do get a front puncture i think you are supposed to put one of the rears on the front and the space saver on the rear. could be a bit of a job at the side of a motorway in the ****ing rain though!!

not going to complain though... im pretty pleased with the outcome..

I think it's the original one. But then again I never saw my original so wouldn't really know!

I best make a call to find out.

Hello!

Could tell me this is 305 or 330mm brakes?
Unfortunately I don't have a picture in higher resolution.
Thanks in advance.

Those are 330mm versions. You can tell because of:
1. the lack of space between the disk and rim
2. the bleed nipple at the top of the piston is in a different position than on the 305 mm ones

Cul, it's my original! The way I'm to do it is to change the back onto the front in the event of a puncture, then put the SS on the back!

Re: ***Definitive 147/156 GTA brake upgrade thread***

Hello again.

Today i finished my project to put the GTA calipers on my 147 2.0. I made the rotors, the bells and the adaptors. The rotors are 340mm x 28.5mm. I made absolutely no conversions on the arches or on the calipers!

Here is a foto of my car!

Re: ***Definitive 147/156 GTA brake upgrade thread***

hmmmm interesting... ive often wondered if its the calipers or the disk size thats the problem with the 305mm GTA set up, maybe a good compromise for those not able to get the 330mm upgrade could be 340mm disks and bells and a small bracket to move the caliper out?

Anyone got the piston specs handy on both the 305 and 330mm calipers?

Re: ***Definitive 147/156 GTA brake upgrade thread***

The problem is that there is not enough room for the calipers so they have to be moved and need disks with diameter over 328mm. I made the rotors 340mm to have the biggest rotor in my 17inch rim. Sorry for my english!

Re: ***Definitive 147/156 GTA brake upgrade thread***

yeah - I understand you need to space out the caliper (alfa do this on the 330mm conversion I think)

Can you post up a pic of the set up without the wheel on please?

Re: ***Definitive 147/156 GTA brake upgrade thread***

The thing is that the 330 caliper is radial mount and the 305 is lug mount.

So you have to constract a 'difficult' antaptor for the 305 to be fitted and a huge rotor which is really expensive to buy. I am a machinist so a have the eqcuipment to construct all these.

Here is a more internal pict!

http://img143.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fe2fe1zv.jpg

I am now selling the 147 to buy a GTV Turbo Benzina. I heard that these brakes dont fit the GTV. I will try and I will be back!
