147 GTA info req'd

Guy's,

Well now my 156 S/W has gone to the scrap yard in the sky, I am looking at getting a 147 GTA.

Is there anything I should be looking out on these ? I seem to remember a brake upgrade/recall ??

Also is the sat nav worth it? is it any good, as I already have a very good stereo to go in the new car ?

Can it be mad to go any faster ? any other mods I can do to it, IE lower it? Do the optional 18" wheels make the handle any better or worth than the 17" ones ??

Thanks,

Mark

Re: 147 GTA info req'd

I'm sure a 147 GTA owner will be along in a minute...

From the common points on the 156GTA...

The BOSE is ok - nothing special, but the loom is different than normal as
the BOSE amp is in the boot and this feeds the speakers.

I'd not bother with SATNAV it's expensive to upgrade new disks, you'll be
better off with a tomtom go or equivalent - advantage is of course it's
portable. the disk upgrade is over 200quid - a tomtom go is about 400
complete.

Easiest mod on the GTA engine is airfilter - it ships as standard with the
same part (on the 156 at least) as the 1.6 not much in the way of power
but does help takeup... the induction kit to complement the filter is
supposed to be good. remaps - yeah but I'd get the suspension sorted out
first 250Bhp is more than enough thru the fronts as standard.

Remaps will force you onto 98ron and with the GTA's thirst this is expensive, although I was talking to Angel and they can do a mild remap still good for 95 ron. The GTA as a rule doesn't like 98.. so a remap is a very expensive proposition...

As far as the brakes go Early GTA's shipped with I think it was 305mm front disks that will normally warp, ALfa will replace on fail with a new 330mm part. Easy way to tell is if youhave a puncure kit rather than a spacesaver you've probably had it done..

if you havent and have multispokes you'll get them replaced if the disks warp.

My guaranteed method of inducing this was stop start city driving (traffic light sprints) after a long motorway run...

If my 156 is anything to go by - the suspension is hard enough on 17's without putting 18's on....

Re: 147 GTA info req'd

FYI Autodelta remaps don't require 98 ron, they may have such a map although I haven't heard of a 98 ron specific one myself.

I personally haven't noticed any difference in fuel consumption after an AD remap (albeit the remap was not done in isolation).

Cheers,
TB
