"Alfa V6 sounds good" shocker

A guy here went to a company-car trackday recently where he could drive a variety of cars.

He tried a 3.2V6 GT and said the engine note was amazing, at idle and on the move. Nothing strange about that, you might say (it was about 10 seconds after start-up that I decided I had to buy the first Alfa V6 I test-drove) except that thechap in question drives a BMW 540i !!

Does anyone know how the GT V6 sounds compared to the GTA's? Is it slightly more refined, or just as naughty?

My mate has a Porker and said the growl at idle is almost the same as my GT 3.2. Must admit, I haven't driven a GTA, but haven't noticed the same growl from one's that I walk past on the road.

Maybe you two need to get together to do a comparison.......

....or even better - I can do the comparison for you. Just deliver the above cars to my office and I will call you in 6 months after my appraisal!


BTW Does ANYONE have a 166 3.2 here??? How does that sound compared to the GT and GTA?

I'd happily swap drives with a (sane) 3.2GT owner just to see what they are like. I suspect the GT ride is better suited to UK roads - that's what the mags suggested - but that it has a slightly less full-on sporty "edge" than a GTA...
