Rip off pricing on GTA bits!
Just been wandering EBay, I occasionally look out for a late facelift info centre at a reasonable price.
Typed in Alfa 156 info centre. 3 hits, all the 3 dial control panel. £48 for regular silver colour, £100 for GTA colour, why the 100% price hike for GTA grey? Anyone else found examples of the same component being more money just due to the GTA colour, or the GTA origin of the part?

Supply and demand. Plenty of used parts from "normal" car not many from GTAs. Its the price you pay (see what I did there) for limited production cars.

Was it from Autolusso as I have noticed that if you want a leather gear surround for a GTA it will cost a nice sum of £60

The leather parts you can make in proper quality leather, with any stitching color, for MUCH less than that price.
As for the plastic parts, you can always paint them to match, or any color you want for that matter.

Its the same with any GTA specific part. The front grills on a 156 GTA are eyewateringly expensive, but the equivalent for the normal 156 are reasonable. The same with the exhaust....and wings.....etc...

supply and demand - thank god that they are based on 156's so we can benefit from certain cheaper items is my view!
The expensive bits are the parts that make a GTA special - e.g. wings, grills, engine!

It's been this way for years!
Go to classic alfa/lancia meets and just ask the old timers with their 60's/70's and 80's motors what they payed to restore their classics, and they'll tell you most parts come from Italy and a mortgage is almost needed to afford them.
The older the car the rarer the parts, the rarer the car the more expensive the parts become.

Its not, GTA is real leather, non-GTA is a fake 'vinyl' type leather. Turn it inside out and you will see

If your climate control has packed up but your fascia is OK you can buy a non-GTA one and strip both down & swap the fronts over. Same with the ashtrays. I know a few GTA owners who have done this, but I have also sold a couple of brand new climate control units just because of a mark or two on the fascia; they cost an absolute fortune!
Parts cost is basically down to the fact non-GTA breakers can be had for half the price or less than even the most knackered GTA. Same with info centres, I sell the early big screen ones for 1/3rd of the price of a late small screen one. Try finding a late 156 with the small screen info centre to break up for reasonable money, its next to impossible. Another example, I sell diesel driveshafts for 4 times the price of twinspark ones, because we'll pay a few hundred quid for a TS and well over a grand for a good JTD. It is all basically supply & demand. Guess which driveshafts I always run out of?

Not bad, I'm trying to save up for bodywork repairs at the moment, and I'm a bit worried that by the time I can afford it it will be too late for the wings to be repaired and I'll need new ones, so worth having that info, cheers.

Don't the new ones usually come with rust anyway
Speaking of which, I still need an exhaust.

No and if they are fitted correctly they don't rust in future
Is it one of Dan's exhausts you want?

These fitting kits are £6 from my local factor as I bought one about 6 months ago.
