155 GTA review Auto Italia coming up
Just bought the June edition (out in early May) of the "Auto Italia" magazine.
For those of you who love your GTA's ( Personally I don't get it when a GTV is there !! )
in next month's edition out on the stands on June 6th there is a feature -
Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA v 155 GTA
Should be a good read though

As I nothing about GTA's and their model range, I can only state what is written on the inside back cover of the Magazine.
It says 155.
If you feel there were no 155 GTA's produced perhaps they mean't another model and made the error
We shall see

155 GTA was for racing, I know they homologated it so there must have been some road versions.........right?
Giulia GTA rules though I have to say. Stunning looking car, great technology and a highly successful racer.
Cheers,
Nigel

Slightly off topic, whatever happened to the Autoitalia road test of the different modified GTA's that people were going on about...something about a 3.8 vs supercharged vs standard vs slightly modified road test...have I gone mad?

155gta was raced in Italian touring cars using a 2litre turbo. This was then developed into the 155v6ti for the dtm. Think that zagato made some mock up cars and these were sold in Japan as the 155z

Why don't you get it? The 156 GTA celebrated alfa's dominance in the ETCC.

There was indeed an 155 GTA but as Nigel states it was kept to the track, however not that widely known is the alfa romeo q4 155 2.016v turbo 4x4 which used the legendary Lancia Delta Integrale engine. Again though this was an import and not more than a handful at that. I was surprised to see one advertised on autotrader back in 1994.

Aaah, nice one rhysenna
It was a blisteringly quick car and one of many models that alfa never gave to the Uk market.
My Lancia 'Dedra' Integrale was designed at the same time as this and used the same setup except it had more refinements like digital dash, three setting suspension and a lavish interior (well for that period anyway)
Wished I'd kept that car really as it was only one of three imported by the then Lancia Uk.
I do have pictures of it but they're polariods and attempts to scan have not turned out to well.

I guess when I see saloon cars such as the 156 badged with a GTA badge or compact hot hatch cars like the 147 again with a GTA badge attached it does not set my pulse racing.
To each there own.
I prefer to look at and drive the Busso engine in a small fast sports car.

Indeed, but the 156 oozes Alfa heritage and has a real racing history. It dominated the ETCC for three years and showed those pesky BMWs where to go! Agree that the GTA is no more than a badging exercise, but the combination of the 156 and the 3.2 Busso is fantastic. But then the Cup is no more than a GTV with a bodykit, right?
If you want a real sports car, here it is:
ALFA 156 GTA S2000 N TECNOLOGY For Sale (2001) on Car And Classic UK
That would be something.......
Cheers,
Nigel

I do seem to remember when the Gtv came out most of the guys who had them were in the hairdressing business and were called lawrence or Sebastian. ( more than likely before they stuck the Busso engine in it!! Steve Dymoke has just bought the 2002 one of those Nigel and paid alot less for it with spares package!! proper car that is!!!

Nigel, I think you are missing my point.
Perhaps I have explained it badly.
Modern GTA's have been unforunately just branded saloon cars and no sign of anything different to come.
I quite like the Touring Car championship - Jason Plato et all but the best Alfa's are true sports car's in shape and design and for racing such as the GT class.
The Cup that I have is as you say a normal GTV with bits added but its the GTV model that is part of the sports car heritage of Alfa. Classic Pinanfarina shape, wonderful engine etc.
Thats what modern Alfa's should be. Not Mito's etc !

And of course the 156 was just a rep's saloon car but suddenly just because it had a GTA badge stuck on the body it transformed into a sports car.
Right !!!!!
