Gearbox woes

OK,

So I've had a reconned gearbox fitted and got the car back yesterday but I can't select 6th gear and the other gears are pretty notchy while selecting them. I've never really taken anything to do with gearboxes but it all smacks of the selectors not being set up properly, at least I hope thats the case.

Is there anything I can do at the kerb side to sort it out or at least try before it goes back to the garage that fitted it. A "how to" would be great.

Cheers, Carty.

I don't think so mate, let the garage sort it out. What was wrong with the old box, was it replaced with a Gta box, or was the original reconditioned.

Well unless they changed the lengths of the selector levers, theres not much that can go wrong on the outside. Take the intake pipe battery out and tray, remove the selector levers just ball and socket use long nose pliers. Using your hand on the selector mechanism you should be able to find all gears. Pushing up and down is across the gate. You will hear reverse.

I wouldnt touch it at all, the garage can say you did something when playing with it. Take the car back, tell them its not right and they need to fix it.

Ok guys thanks for the info, I was supposed to be driving to Scotland today so thought I might be able to sort something out myself especially since its a bank holiday. I need to be in Scotland Wednesday at the latest.
