One happy fella!!
Well today I payed a visit to Ned at Autolusso for a nice shiny Quaife to be fitted
Now I had often got fed up with needing to having the steering wheel near on straight before I plant the throttle otherwise the steering wheel would tug to whatever way the wheels are facing and I have to fight with the steering wheel to get it straight, not so much fun!! Even on part throttle this would happen as well so I also think the rubbish roads around here was part of the blame
Now that the Quaife is fitted the GTA is like a new car
I good test of the diff is going around the same round a bout with the standard diff, the faster I would get the car would then push wide and begin to understeer...now with the Quaife on the same round a bout I can do the same but get quicker and quicker before the back end starts to let go well before the front understeers
So yes it's a worth while upgrade for sure, I can't comment on how it compares to a Q2 as I have never driven one but the Q2'd GTAs I have been in as a passanger felt like it wanted to throw you in a ditch

Bit of a ridiculous statement.
I've driven non Q2'd, Q2'd and Quaife equipped GTA, and there really isn't much in it on the Q2 Quaife front...
The quaife is quite snappy and you need to keep your foot firmly planted. The Q2 isn't as agressive.

Ah my bad then fella, but it's just how it felt but I don't really know if it was due to the car being modded and on a strong cambered road...maybe I should of explained it better in the 1st place?

One question though, I read on AO that the ASR tries to counteract what the diff does so its best to switch it off?

Yep, best to switch it off and learn to use your right foot properly. JWQ's auto-off switch is a nice addition for this, if he's still doing them.

The q2 etc reduce under steer and increase oversteer so I find mid corner with the gadgets on the computer messes about and puts it back into "safe" under steer. It just doesn't drive smoothly with the gadgets on with a LSD when you are pushing it. I have no problem with it on during normal driving though.
I've been caught out in the wet before so I wouldn't automatically switch it off, just turn it off when it's dry and you are giving it some.

I am just amazed how different the car feels to drive though, I know it was going to feel different but
I also got PF pads fitted as well and they make a nice difference

I think it's more the upgraded diff making you happy - I've not tried the Quaife, but there can't be much difference between them on the road. They're both a hell of a lot better than standard Am also impressed like you with how quickly these things stop on decent brakes... coming from fiat puntos and the like... oh, and ASR off should be the first thing you do ... and then just moderate the power in relation to how much grip you have... It's a lot faster than just flooring it and letting the ASR decide what to do.. I'm sure, and you have a much better feel of the car

Just buy a car with rear wheel drive like I did. Always felt the 166 lacked this.

A real Brabus or an S500 with Brabus badges and styling?
My mum had a C class Brabus (inc. engine) back in the late nineties and it was quick!

Yep, (Celebrity first owner spent a fortune on it). We also have a S500L, for the wife to run around in and they have totally different performances. Mind you the S500L is still blooming quick.
I'll be displaying it at Beauleiu later this year.

You are right though, if the GTAs or infact any Alfa was rear wheel drive it would make a hell of a difference! I do have that itch I need to scratch at some point though

I went from a Nissan 200SX to the 166, had it for 4 years, but wanted to go back to rear wheel drive.

The 75 is rear wheeled drive I'm curious to what the 147 GTA would be like with four wheeled drive and running about 350~400bhp and lots of torque if I ever win the lottery eh

Low tech, easy thrills rear wheel drive fun (200sx). I had one, loved it. That was until I spun it in the wet on the A46 out of Bath. Retreated with my tail between my legs back to the safety of FWD (306 GTi-6) soon after.

I would imagine it will be like the twin turbo golf r32 that a firm in the us builds. Can't remember who it was but it features on grand turismo

Our Q2 has been replaced with the new Quaife item by AL. The engine is still being run in but early impressions are just how smooth & quiet it is compared to the Q2

There are tons of people on here that have reported noise. Ours wasn't that noisy by any means but it had done 60k.
The Quaife seems silent.
