Brilliant Blue 156GTA

I'm thinking of buying a 156GTA in brilliant blue. One of my mates came to view the car with me and reckons the colour is not that great and will be difficult to resale. Any opinions. Personally I think it ain't that bad, but don't want to be stuck with a motor which is difficult to sell on in a couple of years.

Re: Brilliant Blue 156GTA

The answer is simple - Dont sell it!

I have been driving my GTA for a year and love it. You would really enjoy the car.

As for the colour it wouldnt be my choice if I had the choice. If you like it then go for it. But do you like it because you want a GTA and this is the best deal youve seen. I know some will say it doesnt matter but if you are unsure at all you may end up sick of the car seeing it sitting in your driveway everyday.

Just be careful I reckon.

As for resale there will always be someone else like you who needs talked into it but will see past the colour.

IMHO the colour does not suit the car at all. Look elsewhere.

Re: Brilliant Blue 156GTA

I feel sorry for your mate.....

A GTA in briulliant blue is absolutely stunning - much better than the standard alfa
red... (I've had a 156 in alfa red and a GTA in brilliant blue). The teledial wheels are
needed rather than the multispokes though..

Of course he may be jealous...

And of course I'm biased, but I've never heard that comment before....

I had a choice - and chose the blue....

Simon.

Sharp basic colours look great, the metallic in the blue keeps the car looking better in the long run when compared to the red which tends to fade. A dark yellow or orange would also make great colours, AR should consider them.

IMHO, sports cars in any catergory can afford to take strong/fierce colours... and most look good in them.

The brilliant blue ure describing IMHO (again) seems to look much more "at home" on a funky little car lik the 147GTA as compared to the 156GTA. Main reason being tat the 156GTA in my perspective is supposed to be more "sport executive & classy" - thus a different shade of colour might be more suited...

Also, in my country, this brilliant blue colour is VERY UNFORTUNATELY always tied to the many Subaru WRXs on our local roads.... So i can see my fren's commentin: "u trying to copy a Rex?" if i ever chose a "subaru colour"...

i do find tat if the 156GTA came wit the choice of the iridescent white lik on the 147GTA it wld be AWESOME & definitely my 1st choice!! heh... then u'd hav my idiotic frens saying: "u trying to copy a Honda Civic/Integra type R?"

In any case, my shortlist colours are Metallic grey, Iridescent red & this brilliant blue if i had to choose a 156GTA.

Re: Brilliant Blue 156GTA

Is this the brilliant blue you are describing?

It certainly looks a good colour to me. I've never been too keen on the GTA body kit, I've always felt it looks a bit heavy but this colour looks as nice as any other GTA.

But you need to be 100% certain it is the colour for you otherwise you will constantly be thinking about the colour.

Especally now that the 159 pictures ahve been released... the stock standard 3.2 V6 version (GM block) looks more agressive than a 156 GTA (IMHO )

Re: Brilliant Blue 156GTA

The new 159 has really nice lines - aggressive without losing the originals style.

Yes this is the colour. I understand the delaer has been trying to sell the car for ages. I think he may have originally overpriced the car at £19995 for an '03' with 9k miles on the clock. Have looked at about 3 GTA's in the past few weeks and this one drives the nicest. Nearly bought an 04 couple of weeks ago, but when I test drove it found it was pulling to the left. It was the dealers car with only 5k miles. Hence now I'm making sure I test drive before deciding whether to buy.

Re: Brilliant Blue 156GTA

I think you should go for it. The blue looks great in the pic posted above. It is a bit Subaru/MG but it does pull it off and since the car itself is gorgeous (especially compared to the aforementioned!) it works fine.

I reckon you will look a bit more up for a race in the blue than other colours but you'll probably win so go for it.

Re: Brilliant Blue 156GTA

My 156 is Brilliant Blue, I original chose Gabbiano Blue, but that car when it came was faulty. We couldn't source another Gab Blue, so i chose the Brilliant Blue. Now IMO it is a much better Colour than Gab Blue, and probably better than anything on a 156 apart from Silver. (My first 156 was Silver)

Gabbiano suits 147's but not 156's.

Alfa Red is a good backstop all round, but it does fade.

Thanks Pascs, I knew I'd put that photo of mine somewhere, was supposed to get some photos over the weekend but by the time I'd finished polishing her it was too late.... I love the way the sky reflects off the bonnet..

The blue colour does tend to mute the bodykit slightly in the way the full on red/black doesn't, as tron says more GT car than hot hatch

I'm serious about the teledials tho, I really don't think the colour works anywhere near as well when you have multispokes & Teledials will tend to quosh the subaru comment.

Anyways it can't be that bad it's been in the AO calendar for the past 2 years! (thanks Hans)

Re: Brilliant Blue 156GTA

Go for it, if you like it. I would'nt worry about resale as since you are the second owner much of the load was dropped by the first owner. Metallic Blue looks great, I am getting an angina attack looking at the pic.

I really like the colour. It looks good on both the 156 GTA and the 147 GTA.

Guess I could be called biased, but the metallic blue is a great colour. It's quite a different shade to the Subaru blue.

I don't know how I came by that picture but the original is in high res - maybe I sneaked it off you somehow
