147 GTA Petrol Cap Exam

Has anybody passed the exam and got qualifications in locking the Petrol Cap on the 147 GTA. I have tried to master it for weeks and am now taking a course in mastering the locking cap! Sarcasm - seriously, has anybody else had problems locking the cap - turn clockwise till clicked and then turn key anti clockwise?

Haha, I admit that the mechanism takes a bit of getting used to. You'll see that the first times after you've mastered it, you will take it off again, because it will have seemed to easy to put on

On a side note, I thought it was clockwise to tighten the cap, then clockwise again with the key.

Re: 147 GTA Petrol Cap Exam

I goddam hated the petrol cap so much that i've totally got rid of it and put on an after market one which justs twists and comes off with no need for a key. Yeah, I know the risks but you'd have to be pretty unlucky for anyone to tamper with it. You'd think filling up as often as you do with the GTA you'd get used to it but you never do.
The petrol cap cover on the GT's are locked and released from the cabin so there's no need for a key at the filler end, that would have been so much more simple!

I can't understand the problem with the cap you lot are having, you just take hold the cap unlock it whilst holding it steady then untwist the cap, should take no more than 3 seconds, couldn't be any easier, saying that though my partner got confused once with the 147GTA and called out her brother when she was stuck at the petrol station but shes a girl

I think a car of this caliber deserves a better mechanism. That crappy plastic door and anoying locking cap belong on $10k Korean rollerskate - not an Alfa. I was amazed the first time I saw it.

I hate the lock as well - am always worried about scratching the paint with the dangling keys - am now looking for a replacement cap (preferably with an Alfa logo) - anyone find one yet?
