Help Help me convice my friend to buy a 156 GTA

Here is the deal. One of my good friends needs to buy a set of wheels as he's about to have his first baby. Looking to spend around £25k, would need a 4 door car and likes power.

I am trying to tell him that with the 156 GTA he gets the flexibility/child friendliness of a saloon and 250 ponies for when daddy drives it on his own. I got him the 156 GTA brochure and bombarded him with specs.

Fact is, he's a BMW lower and I need some convincing lines (after all, I'll want him to drive me around in it sometime...). HELP!!

My view is that if he doesn't "get it", he never will.

I shouldn't waste your time toooo much (though magnificent effort so far )

He sounds like a pukka Beemer Boy... he'll only blame you for it when GTa runs out of washer fluid "...bloody unreliable Italian cars..." etc.

Really, if he's your friend, don't let him buy an Alfa-Romeo as an alternative to a BMW, he might not get the joke...I'm dead serious...

Much as I admire your efforts " Bigfoot" I think you are probably doomed to failure.
People who buy BMWs almost certainly have no appreciation of cars with beauty and soul. Their only interest is showing off to their neighbours and impressing their colleagues at the Golf/Squash/Fitness Club.
How else can you explain all those muppets who buy 318s in electric blue, fit alloys and remove the boot badges in the vague hope that someone thinks they are driving an M3 ?

BMWs yukkkkkkk !

Just start the engine of a GTA.
If he can resist that and if he thinks that an M3 sounds better, you should not sel him a GTA.
He isnt worth it.

Thanks guys, I will let you know how it goes. I am pretty sure if we get to do a test drive he won`t be able to say no. Plus, compared to an M3, the 156 GTA has two more doors and it`s much better value for money.

especially if you get hom behind the wheel of a 6 month to 1 year old one......

I balked @ the list price but I bough mine a year old and she was wonderful - apart from the disk warping issues that is....

Re: Help me convice my friend to buy a 156 GTA

According to this month's Car magazine, he will join 26 other people who have bought 156GTA's this year....

Apparently they are going for £20,000 on a car supermarket website somewhere...

Shame about Car magazine, it used to be the best car mag on the Market, when it had the likes of Setright, Llewellyn & Bulgin writing for it, and it used to cover a huge range of interesting cars.
These days, it should be re-named German Car, with its' obsession with BMWs and Porsches. A couple of months ago, it even claimed that the repulsive slug like thing, the BMW 1 series, was the most significant new car on the Market. Well., perhaps, but only for the visually impaired.

Here it is... unfortunately I failed miserably

My friend decided in the end to join the SUV craze and buy a BMW X5 of all cars... what can I say....?

You know, he's a friend so I can't badmouth him but dammit (am I allowed mild swearing ?) I did want that ride on the 156 GTA so badly....
