a couple of questions regarding my GTA. i have had it a month now and still absolutely love it. i am yet to see another one in the 500 miles i have covered.
When i bought it the guy said that you didn't need to have the traction control on because it has the diff fitted, is he correct?
also it worth chipping the 3.2 i am considering going to AHM in Hartley Whitney
In general, the opinion is off in combination with a Q2. However, be aware that in principle you have to switch it off everytime you start the car, as it always defaults to on...
Torsen reckon their style diff compliments the electronic TC found on many cars these days, and obviously the Q2 won't always be able to get the power down so the ASR kicks in where wheelspin is occurring ... if you don't want the ASR to do that, switch it off. Simple as that, but there's always a caveat with these actions.
To be fair I used to always drive with traction control off, lately I have been leaving it on and have found that the driving with a bit more attention to the right foot the light rarely comes on and is faster overall, i think the q2 works well towards its limits before the tc kicks in, and in certain conditions has it's advantages when it does.
AHM don't chip, they will do a custom remap which is better IMO. It should be tailored to your car. I was very pleased with the one they did for me, great improvement over the standard map. I got much better throttle response and an increase in torque and power all the way up the curve.
i emailed ahm and they said it would give 10bhp. i am not sure i can justify £300 for this. also on a horrible trip to the isle of wight the gta has now developed a horrible noise from the passenger side. i presume it is the front suspension but not sure
