147 GTA

Thumbs Up I test drove a GTA too...

I had a test drive of the 147 GTA last week. I was amazed at the performance of the car. Where my 147 2.0 TS would be doing 110 - 120 kmh, the GTA would be doing 140 - 150 kmh. I did not notice any of the shortcomings mentioned by motoring journalists. It just grips and goes, with a delicious howl from the V6.

I guess I was impressed because I bought it yesterday and will collect it on Tuesday. It's metallic blue with black sports leather interior and Xenon lights. It has less than 6000kms on the clock. I must admit I don't think I would be more excited if I was buying a Ferrari. GTAs are very special....

PS: I'll have to change my avatar too.

By-the-way how old was your 147 and what sort of trade in did you get?

My point exactly, on public roads the grip is more then sufficient (when the roads are dry).

The shortcommings of the setup will usually only be noticed on a track when you can go to the limit.

Congratulations on your purchase BTW. I can imagine you feel excited!

147 GTA

Re: I test drove a GTA too...

Hi,
The matter of the trade in was complicated by the a low interest rate, the need for new tyres and rego running out in early September. My car is a September 2001 model, the only option is Momo leather, standard in all other respects and it is standard. I was offered the GTA for $59,000 drive away with 12 months registration. A new car with the same spec would be around $70,000. I'm changing over at $36,000, which was around $2000 more than my limit, but the 5.95% interest rate brought the repayments down to an acceptable level. So while the trade was lower than I thought, I'm ending up where I wanted to be, if that makes sense. But I suppose based on the original purchase price of the 147 in 2001 of $41,500 it still represents depreciation much better than the earlier Alfas and probably better than a Ford or Holden. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Thanks for all the good wishes. I'm really looking forward to picking it up on Tuesday. I'll be taking it to Oran Park on 4th July to join the Alfa parade at the AROCA supersprint.

WoW,
Well Done....
I suppose you are still trying trying to figure out how a "simple" test drive only, turned out with you signing on the dotted line..

Great Choice

Re: I test drove a GTA too...

WOW.. Seriously that is a very good trade-in price. Alfa must really be desperate to move the 147GTA. You got a great on road price also.

Mind you, when I bought my 147, the full on road price with options was $52,700... I paid $47k driveaway... which was less then rrp+options.

Ive been looking at selling my 147, (02' model) and pricing for a private sale seems to be around $36k. So you getting that figure on a trade in, a car with minimal options and an extra year old is great!.

What should I get for my 147?

2002 147 3dr, Leather, Stacker, Sunroof, Selespeed, 30,000km

I am planning on buying a new car at the end of this year, but have NFI what to get. The 147GTA is obviously at the top end of the list due to its great price/features/performance dominance over just about everything else at that price point. But due to my horrible experiences with my 147 and the dealer network im very reluctant.

Any idea on what I could get for my bella?

02' Alfa 147 - Selespeed - Black / Tan - Sunroof - 17" Supersports

Don't forget this is not a new car. It has been used as a demonstrator for the last eight months, hence the good price. I imagine they were quite keen to get it out of the dealership. Mind you, I've not seen another at that price level.

Re: I test drove a GTA too...

Haha i love it..nice work 147owner,its true what they say..alfa's really are an affair of the heart. You wont be dissapointed with the GTA as your testdrive probably already has shown.Be secure in the knowledge that everytime you snuggle into it and start her up and drive that you'll have trouble keeping that cheesy grin off your face.Congratulations

yes... pls wait for the selespeed version of the GTA... u wont regret it... the 156 GTA selespeed is already available here and the new selespeed box on it is much much better than its predecessor (long story so wont go into it.)

as for the 147 GTA selespeed, its definitely in the works and shld be available soon. In fact all the new Alfa EXAMINERs got 147 GTA selespeed software loaded into them... so its probably a matter of another few months!

cheers!

Re: I test drove a GTA too...

147GTA Selespeed's are now available to order in Australia.
Alfa have been advertising it and ive read some press releases.

$63,990 + options + ORC

Check www.alfaromeo.com.au news.

I think $4k extra for Selespeed is a little steep considering it is only like $2.5k more on the standard models. Although I guess they justify it by having an extra gear and being revised.

Anyone got any idea on my previous question re; value of my car?
